SOURCES
"source" means "canon source" i.e. published by, for or with the approval of Paramount Pictures
Main sources: ST:M, TOSTFF, Encyclopaedia. Text is adapted/amalgamated from these sources, with text added by me where sources give scant information e.g. admiral uniforms in 2151. The 2265 and 2266 era text is mostly by me. [Voyager] text is by me with little use of text from sources, only because I felt it did not give enough details. Some behind-the-scenes information is by me, taken from the same numerous sources that I use for PERSONAL LOG.
As regards non-[Voyager] and non-[Enterprise] Star Trek, I used the following sources for new information and/or confirm my recollections: ST Tech Joseph, The Star Trek Sticker Book, ST Compendium, Concordance, TNG Companion, DS9 Companion, The Making Of Star Trek. (Full titles, review and purchase information is at SOURCES & STANDARD ABBREVIATIONS.)
Want to know the source of an individual image?
- Filenames often include the source (usually in abbrevated form so "enc" means Encyclopaedia). Invoke your browser's "save as" command which, if you are using MS Internet Explorer, calls up the save file dialog box, which shows the filename.
- For some images, put your mouse on the image and a tooltip-style label should pop-up (requires the 'ALT text' feature to be enabled in your browser). (I started to code these part-way through composing the article, which was not done in chronological order, and I added some afterwards so I apologise if I have missed any on a particular page - I shall do them in due course. There are a few pages I have yet to do.) Belatedly I have realised that I may have got ST:M and TOSTFF confused as they tend to use the same data and image sources.
Scans and screenshots are by me (but see picture frame below).
- As always on site, not all images have my site's name on it but they were all done by me unless otherwise stated.
- I do not know the original source of pictures marked "publicity shot" but they were taken by or for Paramount Pictures and have been widely distributed to advertise the series or film. They are usually posed photographs of crew individually or as groups, and sometimes a new posed picture is taken for an article or interview. Publicity shots also appear in Paramount-approved articles in non-canon places e.g. 'SFX' magazine.
- Small screenshot images accompanying drawings of uniforms are usually ST:M, as the ST:M originals comprise the 3-D drawing (no head) and a small screenshot each.
- The page title image, which combines my site's name and drawings of uniforms, is an amalgamation. The images of uniforms come from TOSTFF and ST:M.
In ST:M one of the screenshots of the Transporter Chief in [The Cage], and also in [TOS: The Menagerie] as flashback, is incorrectly shown reversed, so I have done a screenshot by me showing him the correct way round.
