In 2373 the USS Voyager crew encounters the 20th century Federation Timeship Aeon, commanded by and crewed by Captain Braxton. In the latter part of 2375, in [#118 Relativity], Seven is recruited by Captain Braxton who now commands the Federation Timeship U.S.S. Relativity NCV-474439-G in his attempt to prevent damaged to the timeline by a saboteur, who turns out to be his mentally unstable future self. In so doing he reveals aspects of 29th century Federation technology and design. |

One of the most obvious similarities between the 24th and 29th century versions of the duty uniform is the single piece design used a lot in Starfleet from the early 2370's and worn by both starship and starbase personnel. The Relativity's crew all wear the same basic garment style, which consists of a fitted upper chest section with full-length sleeves and tailored trousers descending to regulation boots. The bottom of the trouser legs fit over the top of the duty boots in a similar way to that of the 24th century Starfleet uniform, and this creates a clean and tapered appearance, with the advantage in that no trailing material can catch onto objects or impede movement. The uniform is unisex so the tailored trousers are worn by both male and female humanoid personnel.

The uniform is mainly black, with the same smooth material used to construct the entire trouser area, the lower chest and back and left arm. In keeping with the design of uniforms in the 2350's such as seen worn by crew aboard the Galaxy-class starship USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D in 2364 and 2365 (Seasons 1 and 2 of [TNG]), there is no indication of rank on the cuffs of the sleeves. Rank and departmental assignment are indicated on the upper part of the uniform. Rank pins are worn on the front right-hand side of the collar, which is the same location as on Starfleet uniforms of the 24th century until 2395. A number of variations exist in past Starfleet uniform designs to indicate the departmental section in which a crewmember operates, and 29th century Federation uniforms continue this design traidition through the use of a differently coloured material that runs from the left-hand side of the neck to underneath the right arm.
This creates a 'wrap-around' appearance on the front of the uniform. The material for the 'wrap-around' effect is of a quilted design and is more reflective than the black fabric comprising the majority of the uniform. The colours used to denote the different departments are dark, the contrast is recognisable. The quilted material encloses the whole of the right shoulder and angles down under the front of the arm. The material also covers the entire right arm down to the sleeve. The quilted material angles upward to the rear left of the raised collar on the back of the uniform, and is bi-sected both front and back by a narrow line of piping that is followed onto the black mateial on the chest and back. The piping also forms two downwardly angled chevrons on the outside of both upper sleeves, a style similar to 24th century uniforms. The colour of the piping indicates the wearer's division.

At least three divisional colours on the padded shoulder areas are represented on the bridge of the timeship Relativity. Dark blue is worn by Captain Braxton, and is complemented by the four metallic pips worn on the right side of his tunic collar. The four rank pips, indicating that he is a captain, is the same number of rank pips used in the 24th century and up to at least 2404 to indicate that rank, and so it looks as if that tradition may have been maintained by Starfleet for centuries. Lieutenant Ducane shares a dark grey colour with other members of the duty staff who work in the command centre of the Relativity, while a number of other crewmembers have a dark red coloured material that is arranged in exactly the same design.

The raised wrap-around collar forming the upper part of the tunic is in direct contrast to the more open neck worn by the crew of USS Voyager in the 24th century. While the 24th century uniform's jersey worn under the jacket is clearly visible, with the 29th century uniform only a very small part of the 29th century under-garment can be seen beneath the upper part of the collar. | ![]() Captain Braxton note the glimpse of white or light=coloured undershirt |

Located on the upper left chest beneath the uniform's piping is the metallic silver communicator badge worn by the crew of the timeship Relativity. This incarnation of the combadge features the linked diamond and arrowhead motif in the same position, though horizontally, as has been seen on all Starfleet communicators since their introduction in the 24th century (first seen in [TNG: Season 1: Encounter At Farpoint] set in 2364). |
| When Henry Starling, a native of Los Angeles in 1996, steals Braxton's timeship Aeon and founds a corporate empire by exploiting the stolen 29th century technology, he calls his company Chronowerx, which is wordplay for those in the know, and for his company logo he employs the 29th century Starfleet emblem! | ![]() Chronowerx logo [#50 and #51 Future's End] |
