Khitomer The Khitomer Accords is an historic peace treaty between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets, framed at Khitomer in 2293. The Khitomer Accords were the first step in rapprochement between the two longtime enemies. The events leading to the Khitomer Accords are depicted in [Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country]. In [#44 Flashback], in 2293 Captain Sulu of the USS Excelsior, whose crew includes a young science officer named Tuvok, experiences the aftershock from the destruction of Praxis. Sulu also sets out to rescue Kirk and McCoy, former senior officers and shipmates on the USS Enterprise NCC-1701, but is prevented by Kang's actions in the Azure Nebula. Later, in response to the Federation Council's condemnation of his invasion of Cardassia in 2372, Klingon Chancellor Gowron unilaterally withdraws the Klingon Empire from the Khitomer Accords, [DS9: The Way of the Warrior]. Gowron re-instates the treaty a year later, when an alliance between the Dominion and the Cardassian Union threatens to destabilise the Alpha Quadrant, [DS9: By Inferno's Light]. In 2377, in [#160 Prophecy], USS Voyager comes upon a Klingon battle cruiser dating from Kirk's era, before the Khitomer Accords. (See screenshots.) The crew and passengers are members of a sect and descendants of Klingons who set out in the 23rd century. With the Klingons believing the Voyager crew to be old enemies, Janeway invites its captain aboard Voyager to meet half-Klingon Torres and to learn about the Khitomer Accords. After the meeting, the Klingons call off their attack.
