Galorndon Core (third square from the left in the top row) Galorndon Core is a barely-habitable planet in Federation space, one-half light-year from the Romulan Neutral Zone. The atmosphere of the planet is plagued by severe electromagnetic storms, which makes transport difficult and renders sensors inoperable. A Romulan scoutship landed there in 2366 and was destroyed by its crew to prevent the ship's capture. One crewmember, Romulan officer Centurion Bochra, was marooned there with Commander Geordi La Forge of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D for several hours. Both men suffered progressive breakdown of their synaptic connections, which La Forge speculated was a result of the 'electromagnetic soup' in the planet's atmosphere. Bochra overcame his hostility to La Forge, a traditional enemy, and the pair co-operated and linked La Forge's VISOR with a tricorder to form a device capable of detecting neutrino emissions, since a standard tricorder was incapable of detecting this phenomenon, [TNG: The Enemy]. In 2368, Galorndon Core served as a rendezvous site for the delivery of a stolen deflector array to a Barolian freighter, [TNG: Unification].
![]() the mercurial Clown laughs heartily before suddenly turning angry [#39 The Thaw] | Galorndon Core is also mentioned by the Clown to the Doctor as being the site at which Chulak of Romulus experienced a crushing defeat. No information is given in the story, [#39 The Thaw], as to who Chulak was, who he was defeated by, or when. Clown, furious that the Doctor is delivering an ultimatum when he, the Clown, believes he holds all the strategic advantages: "Did Napoleon give an ultimatum after Waterloo? Did Chulak of Romulus give an ultimatum after his defeat at Galorndon Core? We won! We give the ultimatums around here." |
