CHAKOTAY

Chakotay does not use an assumed name in the Fair Haven holoprogram and he visits the holoprogram in Starfleet uniform. On one visit he sees Janeway and stops to speak to her while she is talking with Sullivan. He is at first unaware that she is involved in a deeply emotional and potentially romantic moment with Sullivan.

Chakotay: "Captain? I thought that was you."
Janeway is embarrassed. "Just getting in the spirit."
Chakotay: "I can see that." To Sullivan: "I don't believe we've met."
Sullivan extends a hand. "Sullivan, Michael Sullivan."

Chakotay suppresses his amusement at the
irony when Sullivan asks: "Are you off a ship?"
Chakotay shakes Sullivan's hand. "Chakotay."
Sullivan: "That's a fine tattoo. Are you off a ship?"
Chakotay: "You could say that."

Sullivan: "We're on our way up to the old castle. You're welcome to come with us."
Chakotay realises he is intruding on their moment. "Thanks, but um...I'm meeting Neelix at The Ox & Lamb. You two have fun." He leaves.

Sullivan: "Is it my imagination or did he call you 'captain'?"
Janeway feigns surprise: "Did he?" She does not answer his question.

Outside of the Fair Haven holoprogram, Chakotay ends up talking to Janeway about it.

He notices Janeway's book, takes it and reads the title on the spine. 'Hills most green, hearts unseen.'"
Janeway is rather embarrassed. "That's Jane Eldon. Catching up on a little reading."

Chakotay, handing back the book: "Those hills and hearts wouldn't happen to be in Ireland?"
Janeway: "You can wipe that smirk off your face. It's not what you think."
Chakotay: "I wasn't thinking anything, but now that you mention it....."
Janeway: "I have an interest in Irish culture."
Chakotay: "That's understandable. They've produced great writers for hundreds of years," and he cannot resist teasing her, "not to mention great bartenders."

Janeway: "He's a hologram."

Chakotay: "I couldn't help but notice: he seemed a little taller than the last time I saw him."
Janeway: "Yes, I made a few modifications."
Chakotay: "In 'the interest of Irish culture'?" He is greatly amused.
Janeway: "Exactly."

Chakotay, seriously: "You seemed embarrassed when I ran into you. There was no reason to be. It was nice to see you having a little fun."
Janeway: "He is rather charming, isn't he? Too bad he's made of photons and forcefields."
Chakotay: "I'd never let that stand in my way."

His words prompt Janeway to spend an evening dancing with Sullivan in his pub during a night of community merriment. Afterwards she orders the computer to remove all the holograms except Sullivan, and soon ends up in a passionate embrace with him. There is more information about the troubled relationship between Janeway and Sullivan at Holocharacters: Michael Sullivan.
