In [#141 Live Fast And Prosper], three con artists have downloaded data from the Delta Flyer. This enables them to impersonate Voyager senior officers and pretend their ship is the Delta Flyer, in order to trick people and steal their goods.

The Voyager crew discover that three aliens, named Dala, Mobar and Zar, have been masquerading as Janeway, Tuvok and Chakotay respectively in order to con various aliens and steal goods from them, leaving the real Voyager crew to take the blame. Paris and Neelix recall that they met "Sister" Dala and "Brother" Mobar eighteen days before Orek, chief of the Telsian mining operation robbed by them, accosts Voyager. Paris and Neelix were on an away mission on Selnia Prime, a small planetoid in the Wyanti system, searching for a spore with which the Doctor planned to grow antiproteins. They happened upon a "sanctuary" and obtained a faulty heating coil in a trade of goods with "Sister" Dala" and "Brother" Mobar. "Sister" Dala encouraged Neelix to talk about the Voyager crew and their deeds in the Delta Quadrant (pictured), and when Neelix and Paris closed their eyes for "Brother" Mobar's blessing, Mobar downloaded the database from the Delta Flyer.

Dala, Mobar and Zar have been using the information to dress in fake Starfleet uniforms and pretend their vessel is the Delta Flyer, as they travel between star systems using their Starfleet personas to perpetrate their scams.

In an attempt to track down the con artists, Janeway asks Orek for access to the scans of the imposters' vessel in order to derive their warp signature. Voyager tracks down the imposters' ship. It is alongside a larger vessel which belongs to an alien called Varn who is trying to seize "the Delta Flyer" as compensation after discovering that "Janeway", "Chakotay" and "Tuvok" sold membership of the United Federation of Planets not just to him but to his enemies too. Dala/"Janeway" warns Varn that their "mother-ship" Voyager has arrived to defend them. Varn opens fire on Voyager. Voyager fires back and knocks out Varn's tractor beam which is holding the imposters' vessel. The imposter ship escapes but not before Dala is beamed into Voyager's brig.

Dala refuses to reveal a detailed account of everyone they cheated, as well as the location of the stolen property. Accordingly the Voyager crew practice on her and her fellows a deception of their own, in which Dala is allowed to escape in the Delta Flyer. Paris has hidden himself in the surgical bed in the Delta Flyer's aft compartment.

Dala seizes Neelix's phaser, stuns the guard and escapes Voyager in the Delta Flyer

Paris comes out of hiding

As the Delta Flyer approaches the imposters' ship, Paris comes out of hiding and activates the Doctor who changes his parameters to impersonate Dala. Dala herself is sedated and her unconscious body replaces Paris' on the surgical bed.

The Doctor, with Tuvok's help, apprehends Mobar and Zar. The stolen goods are restored to their owners and Voyager's reputation is restored.
