REACTION CONTROL THRUSTERS (RCS)
RCS is an acronym for reaction control system, the equipment system aboard USS Voyager and other contemporary Starfleet space vessels that comprises the ship's reaction control thrusters, known as 'thrusters' for short. The RCS provides low-speed impulse power for ship attitude control, station-keeping, and slow-speed maneuvering e.g. at close quarters.
To initiate the emergency shut-down of all thrusters, deuterium must be vented into space, [#6 The Cloud]. In 2371 USS Voyager uses the reaction control thrusters in drift mode within a lifeform that had appeared to be a nebula [#6 The Cloud].
