STATUS REPORT

Ensign Lindsay Ballard returns to Voyager, having been killed three years before and 're-animated' as a Kobali. The Doctor devises a course of treatment to make Ballard look human again. She does begin to look more human, but the treatment makes her feel sick. There are various signs, such as her lapsing into the Kobali tongue, that she has not truly been able to leave her Kobali life behind. Kobali vessels arrive. A Kobali, Q'ret, is Ballard's Kobali father, and he comes aboard Voyager to ask her to return to her Kobali home and family. Later Q'ret opens fire on Voyager and insists he will not stop until Ballard returns to the Kobali. Ballard, who has already admitted to Kim that she does feel more at home with the Kobali now, decides to leave Voyager and return to the Kobali.

Kobali ships attack Voyager

Following an analysis of Ballard's stolen shuttle, Tuvok devises thirty-seven different ways of repelling a Kobali attack.

Torres notes that an alignment error has been showing up in the dilithium matrix. Ballard sees the problem immediately using the Kobali word vyk'tiote, which translates literally into "crumpled dance" to explain it, and she easily corrects the error.

DAMAGE REPORT

When Q'ret in command of Kobali ships opens fire on Voyager, life support begins to fail on Decks 6 to 10.

Kim claims that while they were at Starfleet Academy he used to request baryon sweeps of his dorm room (because he lived across from the sloppy Ballard) and re-arranged his Academy classes to be around her.
