STATUS REPORT

Voyager is threatened by a Borg vessel but destroys it (though aiming to disable it only) by beaming a photon torpedo aboard it. In the salvage Seven finds data nodes filled with tactical information among the debris. Estimating that two years have been added to their journey by continually changing course to avoid the Borg, Janeway decides to go on the offensive. Voyager locates and approaches a Borg scout-ship with the intention of sending an away team on board to steal a Borg transwarp coil in a plan codenamed 'Fort Knox'. Torres believes that with one coil fitted to Voyager's engines, they can shave 20 years off the journey home. Seven is contacted by the Borg Queen who says the Collective has accessed her neural transceiver and knows about Janeway's plan. The Borg Queen tells Seven to return to the Borg or see Voyager destroyed. 'Fort Knox' is successful, in that they obtain the transwarp coil, but Seven allows herself to be captured.

Janeway learns from a transpectral analysis of sensor logs that Borg signals were sent to Seven in her cargo bay alcove.

transpectral analysis

Using the stolen transwarp coil, the Delta Flyer hunts for the Borg sphere which took Seven away. They incorporate multi-adaptive shielding based on field notes made by the Hansens, Seven's parents, in order not to be detected by the Borg. Janeway sends a message to Seven through her Borg interplexing beacon but the Borg Queen discovers it. As the Borg adapt to the multi-adaptive shielding, Janeway beams into Unimatrix One aiming to disable the shield matrix around the Borg Queen's chamber. While Paris eludes the other ships, Janeway confronts the Queen and orders Seven to leave with her. A dispersal field is formed around the chamber to block the Delta Flyer's transporter beam, but on Seven's advice Janeway fires at the power node above the chamber. This disrupts the Borg Queen's command interface, and Janeway and Seven are beamed to the Delta Flyer. They flee through a transwarp conduit but a Borg vessel enters the conduit in pursuit. On Voyager, Chakotay and Torres fire a full spread of photon torpedoes at the conduit threshold, collapsing it just as the Delta Flyer exits. The Borg ship is destroyed.

Voyager collapses the conduit and the explosion catches the pursuing Borg vessel

Voyager travels another 20,000 light-years with the transwarp coil installed before it gives out, getting ship and crew "a good fifteen years" nearer home.

PART 1

To mask Voyager's warp signature, Torres suggests a few Maquis tricks that are not Starfleet-approved. Janeway decides that this is not a time for protocol and tells her to make the adjustments.

PART 2

Voyager launches a class-5 probe to search for residual transwarp signatures.

Seven of Nine's alcove uses over thirty megawatts of power.

EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES

PART 1

The Voyager crew beam a photon torpedo on to a Borg ship with the intention of disabling it. But the torpedo detonates near the power matrix and a chain reaction is caused which destroys it.

The Borg data nodes which the crew salvage contain a crew manifest and tactical information, including long-range sensor telemetry, assimilation logistics, and vessel movements for a radius of 30 light-years. It takes Seven two hours to convert the information to Starfleet parameters.

The Hansen's biodampeners create a field around the body that simulates the physiometric conditions within a Borg vessel. Each unit must be tailored to its user's physiology. Some are manufactured for the away team members to wear on the away mission.

PART 2

Neelix receives permission to melt down the Borg debris they retrieved in order to extract the polytrinic compounds.

Naomi Wildman suggests, to find Seven: "What if we boosted our sensor range with power from the main deflector?" Janeway does not say the suggestion has already been implemented or is a good idea, but she does commend Naomi for her initiative.

Janeway orders the ship's computer to analyse the sensor logs by conducting a transpectral analysis. She notes that apparent random energy fluctuations are Borg com signals.

Voyager fires a full spread of photon torpedoes at the transwarp corridor's threshold perimeter. This destabalises the matter stream and implodes the conduit for at least a light-year.

SHUTTLECRAFT

PART 1

The crew maneuvers a class-2 shuttle by remote control. The shuttlecraft has false bio-readings to trick the Borg into dropping their shields to assimilate it. Meanwhile the away team beam aboard the Borg ship.
