Voyager experiences at least three inspections as it travels through space controlled by the Devore Imperium, excluding the last one commanded by Kashyk on his "return" following his "defection". The Devore Imperium hunts down and detains (probably exterminates) telepaths and all strangers are suspect. Voyager is secretly hiding telepaths - a group of Brenari refugees - and hide them, along with Tuvok and Vorik, in transporter suspension during inspections.
When Kashyk believes he has tricked the location of the wormhole from Janeway, his soldiers take over Voyager completely with all the bridge stations manned by his men. Not wanting his failure on record, he surrenders Voyager back to Janeway.
Because the Devore use a scanning pulse array to track ships, Voyager runs in grey mode (mentioned also, and seen, in [#92 Demon]) so it will not be detected. But the pulse triggers a variance in Voyager's antimatter stream, and the ship is detected.
Pattern enhancers, which are used to enhance a subject's pattern to enable transporter beaming and which are generally used in sets of three, are employed to return the refugees and Tuvok and Ensign Vorik from transporter suspension. Pattern enhancers are seen in use in [#11 State Of Flux], [#109 and #110 Dark Frontier], [#141 Live Fast And Prosper] and [#167 Friendship One].

Kashyk, Devore inspection commander, programs Mahler's Symphony No.1 to play shipwide while the third inspection takes place.
Voyager has access to mercurium isochromate. Janeway offers enough of it to Torat to power his ship for a year.

Kashyk orders two of Voyager's photon torpedoes to be fired in order to destroy the wormhole. After the first is fired, however, he realises that the target does not really exist.
Voyager sacrifices two shuttlecraft which convey the Brenari refugees to safety.
Kashyk notes that Janeway has broken the Prime Directive by harbouring the telepaths. She replies: "Well, let's just say I usually go with my instincts and sort it out later at the Board of Enquiry. Those admirals and I are on a first-name basis, you know."
