Voyager passed an area of space with three full moons the day before the events in this story.

Voyager is "captured" in a collective dream induced by hostile aliens who refer to the Voyager crew as belonging to "the waking species".

The ship can travel a parsec in about one day's time.

Tuvok uses security clearance Tuvok Zeta-9 to override the door lock on Kim's quarters.

Kim's quarters are on Deck 6, Room 105-2. They were previously on Deck 3, in [#56 Alter Ego].

Astrometric scans show no ships or planets in the vicinity or planets capable of sustaining life. Later Chakotay is able to find the planet, by scanning for a neurogenic field.

Chakotay orders the Doctor to deploy a torpedo targetted at the sleeping aliens' cavern if he is out of contact for more than five minutes. Once he falls asleep again and re-enters the crew's collective dream in which they are prisoners of the aliens, he uses the threat to force them to release the crew.
