Voyager is attacked by a number of small spacecraft who steal various items by remotely transporting them off the ship. The stolen goods include Voyager's main computer processor. Seven and Kim use the deep-space imaging system in the astrometrics lab to expand the distance of their scans in order to locate the missing technology. An away team ascertains the precise location as well as the identity of the thief, an alien called Tau.

Voyager under attack and responding with phaser fire
Tuvok and Seven locate the storage facility where the processor is kept, but a forcefield around it makes transport impossible. On the planet, Janeway who is with the hologram of Leonardo da Vinci, will need to get inside the facility and initiate a power surge in the computer processor which will produce a signal strong enough for the transporter beam to lock on to. This works but the arrival of security prevents the two of them from beaming up along with the computer, so Janeway and da Vinci flee the facility for the open countryside where, pursued by Tau's men, they board a glider constructed by da Vinci and take off. Voyager is able to get close enough to the planet to beam aboard Janeway, da Vinci and the glider.

Voyager orbits Tau's planet
Voyager's computer processor's technical specifications are as follows: simultaneous access to 47 million data channels, transluminal processing (i.e. faster-than-light) at 575 trillion calculations per nanosecond, pperational temperature margins from 10 to 1,790 Kelvin.
Janeway initiates computer overload using command override Janeway Pi-110.
Objects stolen by Tau and his associates include the main computer processor, the warp diagnostic assembly, five tricorders, three phaser rifles, a couple of photon torpedo casings, two antimatter injectors, a plasma injector conduit, a month's supply of emergency rations, and the Doctor's mobile emitter. It is not known from the episode if all the items are retrieved.

There is a button on the mobile emitter that freezes the hologram.
Chakotay trades a Starfleet uniform with an alien in return for information.

Chakotay tells the alien that the uniform "looks good" on him
A compression phaser rifle and a closed tricorder are seen close-up in this episode, pictured below.
Voyager has to be 500 kilometres from the surface for the transporter to be able to lock onto the mobile emitter and Janeway.
There are twenty-seven different types of alien ships orbiting the planet. Voyager's scanners are affected by all the different technology on the planet.
Janeway mentions that Captain Kirk claims to have met Leonardo da Vinci, though it has not been confirmed. This refers to events seen in [TOS: Requiem for Methuselah], events which, conjectural or not, probably somehow entered Starfleet records.
