Chakotay and Ensign Kaplan in a shuttlecraft discover a derelict Borg cube adrift in space near a planet. They answer planetside distress call (Kaplan is killed) (she or another Kaplan is mentioned as being alive in [#88 Vis à Vis]). The planet's inhabitants, including one Riley Frazer, are former Borg drones. One colony wants Voyager's help to use the generator on the dead Borg vessel to re-establish a neural link among all the former Borg on the planet so as to generate planet-wide peace. When Janeway refuses, fearing that activating the Borg ship and creating a new collective could be dangerous to all, the colony coerce Chakotay into carrying out their plan. Once the neural link is re-established, the new collective destroys the Borg cube and releases Chakotay from their link, thanking him and the Voyager crew for their coerced help.
Chakotay estimates that it will take 67 years to get home from this point in Voyager's journey.
Voyager's warp plasma filters are due for a thorough cleaning.
Electrodynamic turbulence from the nebula interferes with Voyager's communications system.
A type-9 shuttle is stripped by the former Borg. Later, another type-9 shuttle is seen while yet another shuttle of unspecified type is mentioned but goes unseen.
The Battle of Wolf 359 that Riley refers to was the attack led by Captain Jean-Luc Picard as Locutus of Borg following his assimilation by the Borg Collective, depicted in [TNG: The Best of Both Worlds] (an event referred to by Janeway in [#69 Scorpion, Part 2]). A number of casualties and missing persons from that battle are seen or named in several [Voyager] and [DS9] episodes e.g. [#146 and #147 Unimatrix Zero]. In that battle Starfleet lost 39 starships with over 11,000 casualties; the figure is given in [TNG: The Drumhead].
