STATUS REPORT

Voyager detects gallicite (see EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES) on a planet and an away team is sent to gather a supply. First contact is made with the Sakari (not to be confused with the Sikarians, in [#10 Prime Factors]) and the Voyager crew learn that they are about to enter the heart of Borg space.

EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES

Heavy-duty combat-style uniforms are worn by the members of the away team. For comparisons with other Starfleet combat- or rugged away mission uniforms, see FEDERATION AND STARFLEET: Starfleet Uniforms.

Gallicite is a very rare substance. Scans indicate a yield of nearly a kiloton on the planet, which would be enough to completely refit the warp coils. It is unclear exactly how much gallicite the crew receives from the Sakari, but the "generous supply" yields enough for Torres to have new warp coils by the end of the week.

Torres finds the source of the gallicite - the substance is a plating on alien power conduits

DAMAGE REPORT

Before he beams down to the Sakari planet, Ensign Vorik disables Voyager's communications, transporters and shuttlecraft.

STARFLEET

The Doctor develops what he believes holocharacters provide a viable alternative for space-faring Vulcans, but promises Vorik that he will never tell Starfleet Medical about Vorik's personal experiences. It is unclear whether Paris' use of a holo-T'Pel in [#153 Body And Soul] is entirely his own idea or if Vorik's experience in this episode, or at least the Doctor's treatment of it, became known on Voyager.
