 A bio-forcefield can be activated to confine contagious infections and/or dangerous patients. The second picture shows the forcefield being activated. Once activated it is invisible. The bio-forcefield is activated by a touch-control button on the Doctor's panel - the Doctor can be seen activating it. These two pictures are from [#57 Coda].

The above animated screenshot, from [#159 Repentance], shows a security forcefield, but the Doctor can also walk through any Voyager forcefield such as that erected to contain the sterile atmosphere required for surgery.
