NOTES skip to the translation In [#133 Virtuoso], the Doctor sings this aria (only the first half is performed on tv) as his farewell performance before the Qomar. For him the aria holds personal significance because he has just discovered that he misunderstood the feelings that Tincoo (seen in the stage wings) had for him - he thought she had romantic feelings for him, as he does for her. Thanks to Bruce Irving for identifying the aria, and for the following information: The Doctor performs "Rondine al nido" by Vencenzo De Crescenzo, arranged by Verdi. Bruce says: "The Verdi piece is a bit odd, as it is a duet, which the Doctor performs by himself." I found the Italian at The Lied and Song Texts Page.
