The guns for Chaotica's guards were deliberately made in the style of those in early episodes of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, including little round discs over the gun barrels.

The pistols were designed to be held against the soldier's upper chest or shoulder when firing, imitating the old film serials.

Chaotica's guards hold their guns close to the upper chest or shoulder.

Five copies of the gun, along with matching holsters were produced, as a number of characters were intended to use them. Each gun was painted a dull silver and trimmed in bright metallic green.

The gun Arachnia takes from the guard she fells was of a slightly different design.

Tom Paris must have briefed Janeway in great detail as she, playing Arachnia, holds the gun in the 1930s style - with the gun held close to the chest and shoulder.
