TALAXIANS : Page 8

This page deals with the subjects TALAXIAN FIGHTER CRAFT and BAXIAL (NEELIX'S SHIP).

TALAXIAN FIGHTER CRAFT

The Talaxian fighter is a small, highly-maneuverable combat craft used by Talaxian forces. Several Talaxian fighters, led by Commander Paxim, supported Paris in retaking the Voyager from the Kazon-Nistrim in early 2373. [Basics].

BAXIAL (NEELIX'S SHIP)

Neelix: "There's nothing like having your own ship. I remember when I first laid eyes on my little freighter Baxial. ... Actually, I thought she was the ugliest thing I ever saw! But she grew on me. Eventually I, I couldn't imagine being without her." [#125 Alice]

Baxial was first seen in [#1 and #2 Caretaker] though not named until [#125 Alice].

Baxial was used on Voyager's direct behalf in [#45 The Chute] to transport an away team to and from an Akritirian prison and rescue Kim and Paris who were wrongfully imprisoned there.

In mid-2377 Baxial transported Neelix and a disguised Chakotay to the planet Quarra in order that they could infiltrate the Quarren workforce in search of the missing crew [#162 and #163 Workforce].

Neelix piloted Baxial again in early April 2377 to defend Oxilon's fighter spacecraft as it undertook the mission to plant 16 forcefield emitters in the surface of the asteroid in which about 500 Talaxians had built a colony, in order to defend against demolition by Commander Nocona's mining operation. Neelix protected Oxilon's ship against Nocona's attacks until his own ship was rendered defenceless. Preparing to collide with Nocona's vessel if need be, Neelix was saved from this ultimate self-sacrifice by the sudden appearance of the Delta Flyer. After returning for a short time to USS Voyager, Neelix flew Baxial back to the asteroid colony for good, in order to settle there and live with Dexa with whom he had fallen in love.

From [#125 Alice]:
Neelix: "There's nothing like having your own ship. I remember when I first laid eyes on my little freighter, Baxial."
Paris: "No, don't tell me. Love at first sight."
Neelix: "Actually, I thought she was the ugliest thing I ever saw!" They chuckle together. "But she grew on me. Eventually, I couldn't imagine being without her."
