IRINA'S SHIP : exterior, continued
Irina's ship consists of a sectional main hull which is connected to twin oversized drive nacelles by upwardly angled port and starboard support struts. The main hull terminates in an inwardly angled drive compartment at the rear which forms the largest part of the hull, tapering inward and downward to the smaller centre section of the hull which forms the connection point for the nacelle struts. The upper part of this section has a number of externally-mounted systems - they are painted with a striking metallic red stripe which runs along the middle section of the hull and which gives a distinctive racing machine appearance to the vessel.

The port and starboard nacelles feature a thicker rear section connection to the sleek forward tapered pods that form the longest part of the ship.
When the ship is under power there is a yellow glow which is emitted from the connecting point with the thicker section and the inner edge of the nacelles. |
The bridge unit is an inwardly tapering section connected to the central part of the hull just forward of the nacelle struts, and it includes two narrow viewing ports at the front which give excellent forward and sideways vision to the pilot and co-pilot. This direct view outside the ship can be very important in sighting rival ships and in executing tight maneuvers among them.
