THE NEKRIT SUPPLY DEPOT

Bahrat, the Station Manager, (who is always watching you), would not furnish me with stills taken from his surveillance monitors,
so instead I provide screenshots from [#55 Fair Trade].

BAHRAT AND HIS OFFICE

At the time of USS Voyager's visit to the Depot and for at least 3 years before that, Bahrat is/was the Station Manager. He is very intent on maintaining law and order on his station, and imposes heavy punishments on those found guilty of criminal activity. Punishment ranges from fines to imprisonment in a cryostatic chamber. The punishments for murder and for illicit drug trafficking are both 50 years in cryostatic suspension, a kind of suspended animation.

When a space vessel approaches the Nekrit Supply Depot, Bahrat hails them and ascertains their intent i.e. whether they wish to trade at the Depot. He states that he requires 20% commission on all trade, any transaction negotiated on the station is subject to his approval, visitors' whereabouts will be closely monitored, and their communications may also be monitored at his discretion. Bahrat requires would-be visitors to agree to these conditions before giving them permission to arrive. If a visitor wants to obtain goods at the Depot, Bahrat will give them an appointment to meet him in his office whereupon he might offer to put together a list of potential suppliers.

audio-visual contact e.g. on USS Voyager's main viewscreen

Bahrat's office is a fairly well lit room with a raised dais surrounded by a number of computers which provide him with continual displays of the facility's status. He works mostly alone although he will invite members of his small security team into the area in order to assist in surveillance work on suspicious activities. A central console allows Bahrat to view any part of the station on a large visual display in real time, but it can also play bak pre-recorded images from the cameras positioned around the Depot.

Bahrat's confidence in his security measures is unfounded, as revealed to him by Neelix and Wix who inform him that his sensor systems are prone to regular interference, almost every night, by organised criminal gangs such as the Kolaati who have become rich from the illegal transactions they conduct on the station.

the Kolaati traders know how to feed a false image to the Depot's security cameras to hide their activities so that, for instance,

will look like this
