In [#55 Fair Trade], in answer to Torres' order to fetch her a duotronic probe as she is having problems regulating the plasma flow, because the plasma flow and the manifolds seems to be constricted, Vorik answers: "May I suggest a gravitic caliper instead. You might find it a more precise instrument." She tells him to bring her both. | ![]() [#55 Fair Trade] |

![]() [#55 Fair Trade] | Later, Neelix's mind is so preoccupied with his troubles that he drops something in the messhall as he exits from the galley, just as Vorik enters carrying an engineering toolkit.
Vorik: "Can I be of help, Mr Neelix?" Neelix: "Dinner isn't for another hour, Ensign Vorik, and I don't have time to prepare a snack." Vorik: "I don't require food at the moment. Lieutenant Torres sent me to adjust the control interface on your food replicators. You said you were experiencing difficulties with them." Neelix: "Oh, of course. Go ahead." Neelix bends down to clear up his mess. Chakotay enters with the Talaxian named Wixiban. As Vorik passes the pair on his way to the replicator, he nods to acknowledge Chakotay. The screenshot (left) shows him en route to the replicator, just as Chakotay is about to enter the Messhall, and is a rare moment when we see all of the back of Vorik. |

But Vorik is unable to complete his work (working at the messhall's starboard replicator). Neelix wants to talk privately with Wixiban and he remembers that Vorik is in the room
Neelix: "About done, Ensign?"
Vorik: "Not quite."
Neelix: "Well, I really don't need the replicators today, so you can finish later."
Vorik: "As you wish."
Neelix: "Oh, and remind Lieutenant Torres, er, when she has a moment, I'd still like to go over a few things with her."
Vorik: "I'll relay the message." He leaves.

Later that evening Neelix enters main engineering. The only person on duty is Vorik. |

![]() [#55 Fair Trade] | Neelix: "Good evening, Ensign."
Vorik: "Mr Neelix." Neelix: "I thought I'd log a little time in the Jefferies tubes, if that's alright." Vorik: "I was unaware you were officially on an engineering work detail." Neelix: "Oh it's not official, not at all, but Lieutenant Torres has been good enough to let me poke around here and there, as time permits of course." Vorik: "She has your mentioned your desire to become familiar with Starfleet engineering protocols. I see no reason why you can't proceed." Neelix: "Thank you. Ensign Vorik." Vorik: "Yes, Mr Neelix?" Neelix: "You're quite young. Is it difficult for you being so far away from everything that's familiar?" Vorik: "Had I been given the choice, I might not have chosen to explore the Delta Quadrant. However, since we are here, I must say the challenges are quite intriguing."
Neelix: "Voyager is a wonderful place to be. People here are very fortunate." Vorik: "I would concur." However, Vorik is unaware that Neelix's motive is to steal 3 grammes of warp plasma as part of his dodgy dealings with his old friend, fellow-Talaxian Wixiban. |
