ABOVE: Victorian mansions with staff had a bell passage. Bells were mounted on a high board. Each bell, duly labelled, was connected to a part of the house where someone could ring to summon a servant. Ring (click) the bells to navigate.
BELOW: The scarlet baize door is the door to the service quarters at Uppark historic house. Information about artwork including Beatrice's sampler, and on Uppark, is in Sources & Credits. Click the door, or here, to enter BEHIND-THE-SCENES.
