![]() Deanna listens to Barclay's account of his difficulties in searching for USS Voyager, and they talk late into the evening, [#130 Pathfinder] | In mid-2376 the Enterprise-E returned to Earth and Deanna took the opportunity to visit Reg Barclay at his apartment. She found that he had lapsed back into holodiction after he became obsessed with trying to find a way to communicate with USS Voyager which was still deep in the Delta Quadrant trying to return home. She helped Barclay face the isolation he had been feeling since leaving the Enterprise, and celebrated with him when his work resulted in Starfleet finally making live audio contact with Voyager. This established project Pathfinder as the primary source of contact between Voyager and home. Beam to EPISODE GUIDE: [#130 Pathfinder] for screenshots and dialogue. |

Later in the year, Barclay asked for Deanna's professional help regarding the health of Dr Lewis Zimmerman, the creator of Starfleet's series of Emergency Medical Holograms. Voyager's Doctor (an EMH Mark 1) had been transmitted via Project Pathfinder's arrangements with the MIDAS Array to the Alpha Quadrant hoping to treat Dr Zimmerman using the medical techniques he had learned after experience with the Vidiian phage. Thanks to Deanna's intervention, Dr Zimmerman, who had viewed the EMH Mark 1s with disappointment and contempt, eventually allowed Voyager's Doctor (an EMH Mark 1) to treat him and the Doctor left to return to Voyager after giving the prognosis for full recovery. on first arriving at the lab on Jupiter Station, Deanna tries to reconcile Dr Zimmerman with Voyager's Doctor. Deanna: "I came here thinking you were opposites sides of the same coin, identical but different. Now I see you're both exactly the same: you're both jerks!" [#144 Life Line]

Deanna became more involved with the Pathfinder Project in mid-2377 after Barclay interrupted her vacation where she was about to rendezvous with Will Riker for a romantic break. Barclay told Deanna that two of the monthly holographic datastreams that he had been sending to Voyager were not reaching their destination. He suspected they had been intercepted, possibly by the Borg or the Romulans. Deanna was not persuaded by Barclay's claims and she encouraged him to air his underlying suspicions that his former girlfriend, Leosa, had something to do with the breach of security.

Her instincts proved to be correct. Admiral Paris interrogated Leosa but when she protested her innocence Deanna threatened her with long-term detainment and thus persuaded her to reveal that she was in the employ of three Ferengi who were plotting to harvest and sell Seven of Nine's Borg nanoprobes. The plot, which, if successful, would have resulted in the deaths of all the Voyager crew, was foiled. Beam to EPISODE GUIDE: [#152 Inside Man] for screenshots and dialogue.
