SEVEN'S CATCHPHRASE

A list of Seven's catchphrase: "[.....] is irrelevant." and variants including other speakers, if relevant i.e. if they consciously mimic this word that is used by the Borg. Indeed, it is because the Borg Collective uses the expression "[.....] is irrelevant" that Seven retains their straight to the point way of speaking after she recovers her humanity. Likewise she retains certain attributes of the Borg that she finds admirable, such as the desire for perfection and efficiency as her personal goals (see [#116 Someone To Watch Over Me] below). Therefore, Seven's use of the word "irrelevant" is not quite a catchphrase, but really an illustration of the way she speaks. The same use of terminology is retained in part by Icheb, and is also used by One. Seven's significant straightforward statements "[....] is irrelevant." are printed in bold.

2374 [#77 Year of Hell, Part Two] Aboard Voyager, the senior staff gather in the messhall, the first time for some while that they have all met together. The toast is "to distant friends". None of them like Neelix's concoction which he calls "the Elixir of Endurance - it's loaded amino acids, carbohydrates, all the nutrients required for the crew to withstand these stressful conditions."
Torres: "Ration cubes." Neelix: "Well, yes, yes, but this time puréed, and mixed with water, and enhanced it with Talaxian spices."
Seven: "It is offensive. Fortunately taste is irrelevant."

2374 [#80 Mortal Coil] Neelix: "How much longer will I be needing these injections?"
Seven: "Until your damaged cells can function on their own."
Neelix: "I don't really like the idea of Borg technology swimming round inside me."
Seven: "That is irrelevant. You need the nanoprobes to live."

2374 [#83 Hunters] The Doctor reports that the dead humanoid, found aboard a drifting powerful spacecraft, has been gutted. Seven says the Borg came across a vessel containing similar victims but they did not investigate further as it was "irrelevant".

2374 [#89 The Omega Directive] Janeway discusses the highly dangerous Omega molecule with Seven.
Janeway: "Sometimes fear should be respected. Seven, tell me. How many Borg were sacrificed during this experiment?"
Seven: "Twenty-nine vessels. Six hundred thousand drones. But that's irrelevant."
Janeway: "Not to me, not to my crew, and not to the people who live in this quadrant."
Later Seven explains: "It began with Species 262. They were primitive, but their oral history referred to a powerful substance which could "burn the sky." The Borg were intrigued, which led them to Species 263. They, too, were primitive and believed it was a drop of blood from their Creator."
Janeway: "Fascinating."
Seven: "Yes but irrelevant. We followed this trail of myth for many years until finally assimilating a species with useful scientific data. We then created the molecule ourselves."

2374 [#94 Hope And Fear] Arturis: "I watched and waited for my opportunity to make you pay for what you'd done, then the Starfleet message, and I knew your that selfish desire to get home would surface again, that I could lure you to this vessel, that I could see to it that you'd all be assimilated and spend the rest of eternity as Borg! I was hoping to get your entire crew but I'll settle for the two of you. In a matter of hours, this ship will return to my homeworld, inside Borg space."
Seven: "When that happens you will be assimilated as well."
Arturis: "That's irrelevant."

2375 [#95 Night] Janeway discovers that Chakotay has told the senior staff of her secret plan for self-sacrifice. Accordingly the senior staff stage a little mutiny, forcing her to discuss with them alternatives for escaping through the spatial vortex and out of the starless region of space that the crew have nicknamed 'the Void'.
Janeway: "You realise it will reduce our chance of getting through."
Seven: "Chance is irrelevant. We will succeed."
Doctor: "A vote of Borg confidence. Who could argue with that?"

2375 [#96 Drone] Seven is instructed by Janeway to act as teacher to the Borg super-drone born on Voyager in the hope that he will acquire human values and become a valuable member of the crew.
Seven faces the drone for the first time once it has fully matured.
Drone: "We are Borg. State our designation."
Seven: "Designation is irrelevant. You are not part of the Collective. You are an individual. You'll receive your instructions from me."
Drone: "Seven of Nine tells me my designation is irrelevant."
Neelix: "I disagree. You should choose a name for yourself, something that defines who you are. After all, there's only one of you."
Drone: "One..."
He takes the name 'One' for himself.
One destroys a Borg sphere that is attacking Voyager by interfacing with it and steering it into a proto-nebula where it explodes. He is rescued but decides to die of his injuries by refusing treatment in order to protect the ship's crew.
One: "While I was linked to the Borg I could hear their thoughts, their objectives. They are aware of my existence. They will pursue me!"
Seven: "Irrelevant. They will fail."

2375 [#102 Nothing Human] Seven: "You seem uncomfortable taking orders from me."
Ensign Tabor: "No, just that I'm used to taking orders from B'Elanna, that's all. And to tell you the truth-" Seven: "She doesn't like me. Yes, I am aware of that. However, the Captain left me in charge in Lieutenant Torres' absence. Her feelings about me are irrelevant. Activate the interface transceiver. Begin the download."

2375 [#110 Dark Frontier, Part Two] Borg Queen: "All of your emotions, - grief, guilt, remorse, compassion - will be irrelevant once humanity is assimilated. Forget Voyager, they were never your collective."
Seven: "I am Annika Hansen, human."
