LEISURE ACTIVITIES
Janeway enjoys painting, and skiing. In [#54 Macrocosm], in her ready room, she declines Chakotay offer that she join him and others skiing, saying she has had enough of a workout (dealing with the macrovirus which had invaded the ship), and continues painting a landscape.

In [Future's End] she takes up tennis again, after 19 years. She was on her high school team. In [#50 Future's End, Part One] she tells Tuvok she played a novice tournament on the holodeck and lost her first match in straight sets.

She likes to read and often reads into the early hours, sometimes with classical music on quietly in the background. Seven finds her doing this at 2 a.m. in early 2375, with the background music being solo piano. One book Janeway has read is poetry by Dante - the book 'La Vita Nuova' (The New Life) [#105 Latent Image]. |
She loves music but never learned to play an instrument, a fact she regretted in later life [#48 Remember].
