Janeway's favourite drink is coffee, "the finest organic suspension ever devised" [Hunters]. "I beat the Borg with it." referring to [#68 and #69 Scorpion]. She drinks her coffee black [#104 Counterpoint] etc. She has a weakness for coffee ice cream [#24 Persistence Of Vision].

In 2371, in [#6 The Cloud], a bad experience with Neelix's even-better-than-coffee substitute gives her added incentive to order Voyager towards a nebula to obtain a source of energy (there is a rich deposit of omicron particles 64 million kilometres inside the nebula).

Janeway also drinks tea and has a lucky tea cup [#76 and #77 Year of Hell]. In the unrealised timeline, Admiral Janeway, travelling from the year 2404, tells her younger self that her favourite cup was broken, in the future, in a battle with the Fen Domar. It is not certain if it is the same piece of crockery, but thematic recall suggests that it is. She owns a traditional china tea set which is kept in her ready room. She often shares tea with her visitors, for instance Neelix in [#117 11:59] and Chakotay in [#57 Coda].

| Janeway hates to cook [Resolutions] but can cook, and makes dinner for herself and Chakotay once a week. For example, she cooked vegetable biryani for Chakotay [#100 Timeless].
In 2377, in [#162 Workforce, Part One], Janeway cooked for Jaffen and told him that once the charred part is cut off she was sure it would be fine. Jaffen pretended it tasted fine but admitted shortly afterwards that it did not.
