ALIEN MAKE-UP AND COSTUME

The Borg cyberspace was filled with a whole range of aliens whom, apart from the Klingon character Korok, we had not seen before.

Michael Westmore: Each day we had five full heads, which means full alien - a whole different head; five humanoids, which would be foreheads; and then about five light humanoids, which means something like a little nosepiece. So we had around 15 people made up every day, all in different phases.

Robert Blackman, costume designer: What they're wearing has a certain kind of comfort and softness to it rather than the rigidity of the drones. There's taupes and earth colours and some greens so that we match the forest that they're in. I wanted to get away from metallic and cool colours to warm and inviting colours that were 'of nature'.
