FOLD AND HOLD SETS & SWING SETS

For practicality, due to lack of space, any sets needed for holodeck scenes are built on Stage 16. There is no space on either Stage 8 or 9 to accommodate them. Some of these sets are used periodically and therefore are called "fold and hold sets", which means that they are taken down and stored, usually at a facility off the lot, for re-use later; an example is Janeway's gothic holonovel set. Sets which are needed only once, for a specific episode, are called "swing sets" and are also generally built on Stage 16.
