BEHIND-THE-SCENES:
SOURCES & STANDARD ABBREVIATIONS

Certain sources may not be canon, although approval by Paramount Pictures/Viacom is implicit by the nature and scope of their content.

As with everything on this site, all info provided is given in good faith.

STNStar Trek Night, shown on the UK's tv channel BBC2 in September 2001 to celebrate Star Trek's 35th anniversary. Material provided by/approved by Paramount Pictures. More details in SOURCES.
NVNow Voyager. This website, which formed "The Official Kate Mulgrew Fan Club" no longer exists. It gave about a week's notice that it was ceasing to give surfers an opportunity to take things from the site. It consisted of info and newsletters containing occasional interviews with the show's cast and production staff, inevitably focussing on Kate Mulgrew, editor's piece, spoof articles, and reviews by any fans who wished to submit a review about an episode. After a while it obtained official sanction and named itself The Kate Mulgrew Appreciation Society and now runs another website (URL being obtained, meanwhile search the name in your search engine). Unfortunately, for reasons explained below under "Unknown", I did not note the source for most info obtained from visits to Now Voyager while that site was running. This means I can only give a general credit, without being able to specify individual pieces of information. To comply with The Kate Mulgrew Appreciation Society's stated preference, I do not reproduce any pictures or artwork from their site (at least, not as far as I am aware) because they assert copyright over certain things and forbid their use elsewhere. Join the Society, which is run by membership fees, by visiting their site.
MDS9The Making of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine by Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens. Published by Pocket Books. Authorised by Paramount Pictures. ISBN 0-671-87430-6. This source provides behind-the-scenes tidbits which also are relevant to the production of Star Trek: Voyager (and often other Star Trek productions too).
UnknownItems are from the web or books (or both if scanned/copied onto the web), taken by myself or sent to me by friends including, as time has gone on, many site visitors (thank you, everyone!) who were unable to cite their source. Some items pre-date the launch of this site. When I started doing articles for this site I did not intend to do a Behind-the-scenes section, but I started one heeding visitor feedback, and from that time onwards I tried to be meticulous about noting sources. However my recording of sources from whenever I surfed before then was patchy, usually due to disorganisation or the belief that I did not need to bother if it was a snippet as it was just for me. I regret I do not have the energy to re-search the web and my memory is too poor to rely on. In order to pre-empt a possible deluge of mail on this subject, I cannot accept statements that so-and-so or such-and-such website/book are the original source, because:
(a) info can and often did/does appear on more than one site or paper source - anyone has access; who is to say which is the original source?; and/or
(b) someone might give me the wrong source and I have no way of knowing if it is correct or incorrect beyond any doubt
