VIEWING REQUIREMENTS

  1. Site best viewed with / Essential and Recommended Settings
  2. To view the Articles Index (and the site) as intended, you need a DHTML browser, as modern (i.e. DHTML) browsers support the features listed. Over 96% of the browsers used on this site support all these features, namely MSIE 6+ and (up to 4%) Netscape 6. MSIE 4+ and Opera 6+ do too.
  3. For SHIPS & STATIONS and BEHIND-THE-SCENES, the script writers Dynamic Drive say that MSIE 5+ and Netscape 6 can uncontract and contract the headers, and that the script degrades fully with other browsers with content being shown all at once.
If necessary (for instance, you do not have a DHTML browser), view the source of those pages (which, within scripting constraints, I have arranged for easy viewing, with guide comments) then copy and paste your chosen URL into your browser's navigation; or, if you are viewing the Articles Index default page, use the plain links in the Alternative Reality.
To view the source of a webpage, use the appropriate command in your browser; if necessary, consult your browser's Help file. pop-up screenshot example
  4. upgrade your browser
  5. pop-up browser diagnostic

PERSISTENCE VIEWING FEATURE

Provided you have cookies enabled, a selected tab remains selected until you select another, and remains so even if you visit another page then return. This feature (termed "persistence") works only for the browser session, so if you close your browser then open it and visit this page the menu will display in its default form.

This feature may not work properly for some non-MSIE browsers.

THE ARTICLES

  1. Sources and Standard Abbreviations
  2. The index lists "miscellaneous" articles and subsidiary image collections, which can also be reached from other sections. Therefore this index is not the only means of accessing articles, so if you prefer not to use this Articles Index, you can reach all the articles by surfing the site.
  3. All articles were compiled by me. I use a variety of canon sources. Text is normally not simply quoted verbatim and I often add more info and often screenshots. Text is, however, likely to be verbatim in parts of articles giving specialised data on, say, the technical features of an alien starship engine - this is because I failed the course in elementary starship mechanics.;-)
  4. As throughout the site: screenshots, scans, soundfiles etc. are by me unless otherwise stated.
  5. Articles worth noting and which are new/updated are indicated in WHAT'S NEW, access via the Bridge. Unless the logic of category dictates otherwise, the latest article appears at the top of its section or sub-section.
  6. Only a few article-style entries from LIFEFORMS, CREW or SHIP are indexed here. Use buttons at bottom of page to browse those sections. Certain other articles can also be reached directly from the Bridge.
  7. There are smaller-scale interviews in other behind-the-scenes site sections such as PERSONAL LOG (e.g. Grace Lee Whitney, plays Janice Rand in [#44 Flashback]) which is sorted by episode, or TIDBIT STORAGE LOCKER. PERSONAL LOG has its own search engine which can be used there while in full frames format.
