Janet visits Leonardo 2
- Leonardo meets the EMH

Leonardo: "Salue multum, mi amice! Qua ualetudine es? Gaudeo uenisse saluum."
Nice to see you, my friend! How are you? I'm pleased to see you're well.

Janet: "Gratias. Salue tantundem mihi, carissime! Uix te agnoui - aetate multo minor uideris quod barbem totondisti. Quid agis?"
Thanks. Greetings to you, my dear sir. I hardly recognised you - you seem much younger because you've shaved off your beard. How are you?"

Leonardo: "Non optime sane. Manus mihi dolet. Bene accidit quod est manus dextra."
Not as well as I could be. My hand hurts. It's lucky because it's the right hand.

Janet: "Nullumne consuluisti medicum?"
Haven't you seen a doctor?

Leonardo: "Equidem multos, dies plus minus viginti. Alius aliud dicit neque quisquam me miserum esse negat. En scida officinalis - 'Ter cotidie ante cenam uiginti hirudones sanguisugae aqua dilutae sumendae sunt'."
Indeed lots, for nearly 3 weeks. They each say something different but there's general agreement that I'm in a bad way. Here's the prescription - 'Take 20 leeches in water three times a day before dinner.'

Janet: "Arcessam medicum."
I'll get you a doctor. (She does so via ship communications.)

EMH: "Placetne tibi ut dicere quomodo casus medicinalis."
Please state the nature of the medical emergency.

Leonardo to the EMH: "Manus mihi dolet. Ecce, pus emanat! Vae mihi! Num amputandus est?"
My hand hurts. Look, there's pus oozing out! Woe is me! Will it have to be amputated?

EMH to Leonardo: "Rem paulo accuratius explorabo cum tricordio. Soni cordis tui naturae respondent. Pulmones quoque sani sunt. Extremus digitus sanie iam deletus est. Te doloribus cruciari puto, quibus te liberabo. Ipsa autem resectio sine doloribus fiet."
I'll give you a more thorough examination with the tricorder. Your heartbeat is normal. Your lungs are in order too. The fingertip is septic. I know you're in pain but I'll rid you of that. The operation itself will be painless.

He moves a medical instrument over the injured part, then a dermal regenerator and the finger is as good as new. It takes all of five seconds.

Leonardo: "Melius mihi est." To the EMH: "Gratias tibi ago maximas!"
I'm feeling better. Thanks indeed!

EMH, clicking combadge: "Peregrinator, me transmitte sursum."
Voyager, beam me up.
