The holographic and real-life clientele at the holographic Chez Sandrine is multi-cultural as, quite apart from the human population, a variety of aliens frequent the place. The bar staff, who wear uniforms, are human or alien. By the end of [#6 The Cloud], a number of the Voyager crew are visiting and enjoying this holodeck program, and the Voyager crew, whilst predominantly made up of human crewmembers, includes a number of different species such as Vulcan, Bajoran, Bolian, Betazoid although members of these species are not necessarily seen in the holoprogram.

To suit the relevant occasion, the holocharacters are included or excluded, for instance the inclusion of the holographic Steven Price by the Doctor in [#116 Someone To Watch Over Me]. The holoprogram is the venue for Kes' surprise birthday party to mark her second birthday, in late 2371.
(Encyclopaedia states Kes' party as being in 2372, which is not strictly speaking an error because the television network UPN's president arbitrarily decided to hold back four episodes from Season 1 to Season 2, including [#19 Twisted], but these episodes had already been filmed, resulting in inconsistencies created in, say, the stardates, because since [TNG] it is conventional in Star Trek that one television Season equates to one year in chronological time. Thus, as written and originally intended, Kes' 2nd birthday occurs in late 2371, but as first broadcast (and on ST DVD) it occurs in early 2372. The UPN decision is generally considered to have been a mistake by both production staff and fans alike, including myself. The correct Season allocation was restored after first airing e.g. for syndication although, oddly, retained in ST DVD. More information and another good reason for thinking the decision to have been an error are at

The holoprogram is somewhere where any member of the Voyager crew can spend time during off-duty hours. There they can relax on their own or with friends or in the company of one or more of the holocharacters. A number of the crew play pool. A large number participate, against regulations, in Tom Paris' radiogenic sweepstakes in the hope of winning replicator rations, until Chakotay closes the operation down and confiscates the pot. Food and drink is available to both holocharacters and real visitors - see also Food and Drink. The holoprogram is the scene of several important developments, good and bad, in romantic relationships - see also Romance.

Torres, Chakotay, Paris, Tuvok and then Janeway and Kim enjoy playing or watching pool in holo-Sandrine's at the end of [#6 The Cloud]
Apart from main crew, other crewmembers also enjoy the holoprogram:

![]() ![]() | In early 2373, in [#46 The Swarm], the Doctor uses the Chez Sandrine holoprogram as the location for a study of opera as he tries to sing the duet 'O soave fanciulla' from Giacomo Puccini's opera 'La Boheme' with a holographic re-creation of the famous 22nd century diva Giuseppina Pentangeli. Unfortunately she shares certain personality traits with the Doctor, such as vanity, and the two of them definitely do not get along. The Doctor is interrupted and called away to treat Paris and Torres after they are injured during a shuttlecraft mission. |
