![]() | THE GIGOLO |
![]() [#6 The Cloud] | The holo-Gigolo is not identified by a name, and is referred to universally as "the Gigolo". The strict definition of "gigolo" is a man who has sex with a woman and is financially supported by her. He asks Tuvok about Janeway: "Tell me, does she have money?" but Tuvok does not reply. The holo-Gigolo is a good-looking and charming sexual predator (though for a predator he is fairly easily kept at bay), a libertine or morally unrestrained and, quite simply, a woman-chaser.
The holo-Gigolo is a humanoid life-form, being half-human and half-Daliwakan, having a French father and a Daliwakan mother. He is seen in [#6 The Cloud] and [#35 Lifesigns]. |
![]() [#6 The Cloud] | The holo-Gigolo chases after the holographic women in the holoprogram, one of whom, hologram Ricky, complains to Tom Paris (the programmer, though she does not know this). Holo-Ricky. "Your friend the holo-Gigolo wouldn't leave me alone."

The holo-Gigolo also pursues real life women. Kim, feeling a bit sorry for Janeway since with Voyager cut off from Starfleet she has no one of equal rank to socialise with, invites her to join him in the Chez Sandrine holoprogram. She surprises those who are there when she turns up. The holo-Gigolo's behaviour is typical of his programing:
The holo-Gigolo comes up to Janeway. "One always knows when a woman of good breeding enters the room." He kisses her hand. "Mon cherie. May I request your favourite song so that we may dance," Janeway seems charmed, "before I take you to my private felucca on the wharf and make passionate love to you." |
Another real life woman that the holo-Gigolo makes a move on is the Vidiian haematologist Dr Danara Pel. She is rescued by USS Voyager and while the Doctor prepares treatment for her dying and phage-afflicted body, he transfers her mind and essential being into a hologram of her as she would appear if she were well. The Doctor has the computer transfer their programs, his and hers, to the Chez Sandrine holoprogram.
Neelix to Danara: "As chief morale officer, may I be the first to welcome you to Voyager."
Holo-Gigolo: "Madame, your loveliness illuminates our dark little cavern. May I have the pleasure of this next dance?"
He reaches out a hand to take hers, but she recoils and snatches her hand away. The Doctor realises this is because she has the phage and shuns physical contact with others.
Doctor to Neelix and the holo-Gigolo: "Go away immediately, both of you. You're disturbing my patient."
Holo-Gigolo to the Doctor: "You are just jealous because you cannot dance!"
Neelix to the holo-Gigolo: "Let's go. You're making the lady nervous." To Danara: "Nice to meet you."
Neelix and the holo-Gigolo leave the Doctor and Danara alone.
Doctor to Danara: "I apologise."
Danara: "No. They were just being nice."
Doctor: "Irritating, isn't it?"
