Whatever the situation, Braxton undergoes extensive rehabilitation before he is permitted to return to his duties in the 29th century Starfleet. Despite Braxton's past difficulties, which may well not be widely known by his crew, he is obviously a respected commanding officer. During a conversation between just the two of them, when Seven says: "I don't enjoy uncertainty." Braxton's second-in-command, Lieutenant Ducane, replies: "Neither do I, but I trust Captain Braxton's instincts, just as you trust Captain Janeway's."

Braxton's mission aboard the Relativity as depicted in the episode [#118 Relativity] brings him into contact with Janeway once again - he must locate a saboteur who places a temporal disruptor aboard Voyager, causing temporal disruptions leading to hull demolecularisation and the ship's ultimate destruction. Braxton recruits Seven, extracting her a microsecond before the explosion so that no one notices that she has gone missing. She is chosen because her Borg ocular implant is able to detect disruptions in space-time, for interference prevents Relativity getting precise information directly. In addition, she has the advantage of being familiar with ship and crew and is thus able to move around the ship to scan for the temporal weapon without drawing undue attention to herself. She is in fact recruited a total of three times - namely, extracted from her timeline, persuaded to assist, briefed, equipped and transported back onto Voyager into an earlier time frame. During her first two attempts, she is able to narrow the saboteur's time window in that the Relativity is able to work out that the temporal weapon was planted on Voyager sometime in 2372 and while the ship was under attack by the Kazon-Nistrim as the ship's shields were down giving the saboteur the opportunity of boarding. Both Seven's first two attempts ended up with her being killed, the second time due to damage to her bionetic implants as the result of being transported during interference but Braxton adjudged that she had to be transported back to Relativity at that moment otherwise the Janeway of the time period 2371 would have discovered her resulting in contamination of the timeline. Each jump causes sensory aphasia which affects the cerebral cortex and can lead to temporal psychosis. However, during her third recruitment, although Seven does suffer sensory aphasia she recruits her younger self upon becoming incapacitated in an attempt to apprehend the saboteur instead.

Braxton is obsessed by what he terms "the Janeway Factor". As he explains to Seven when he briefs her in the holomatrix simulation of part of Voyager (junction 49 on Voyager's fourth deck - thanks to Seven's earlier attempts they learn that the temporal disruptor was and will be concealed here), Janeway is reckless, has no regard for the integrity of the timeline, and sticks her nose where it does not belong. He orders Seven to avoid contact with Janeway (an order she later disregards).

The extent of the bitterness that Braxton harbours against Janeway becomes apparent when Seven enlists the aid of 2372-era Janeway and discovers the saboteur's identity - a future version of Braxton! This figure, haggard and suffering from temporal psychosis, informs his younger self: Listen very carefully. The circumstances of your life are going to change in the next few years. You'll be sent into rehabilitation, again, forced to retire, and it's all because of Voyager! The only way for me, for us, to recover is to obliterate Voyager from the timeline. That way, none of the events that caused this illness will have occurred. Thirty years of exile on twentieth century Earth, the temporal inversion in the Takara sector - three violations that I had to repair."

Lieutenant Ducane arrests the younger version of Braxton "for crimes you're going to commit", assumes command of the Relativity and of the mission, and confines him in the Relativity's Brig. Ducane transports Seven, by now beginning to suffer sensory aphasia, to different times and places on board Voyager, as she pursues the fleeing older version of Braxton.

Helped by her younger self, Seven, also aided by the 2375 version of Janeway, capture this version of Braxton whom Ducane beams to the Relativity and detains immediately Braxton materialises on the Relativity's transporter pad.

In return for leniency, that version of Braxton reveals when exactly he transported to Voyager to plant the temporal disruptor, and explains how best he can be captured: "Deck 4 section 38. I'll stumble over a wounded crewmember. That will be your chance to capture me." Ducane then recruits 2375-Janeway to travel back to Voyager into the 2372 time frame where she successfully apprehends him.

2375-Janeway and Seven from slightly later in 2375 head toward the Relativity's temporal transporter in order to be beamed back to their correct places in time and space, [Relativity]

This means that there are three versions of Braxton detained on Relativity but Ducane assures a confused Janeway that they will all be re-integrated in time for the trial. The two Sevens will also be re-integrated now that the timeline is restored. Ducane is pleased that the resulting temporal incursion factor is only 0.0036.

Ducane to Janeway: "Oh, Captain. Braxton was right about one thing. Voyager shows up on our sensors far too often. Try to avoid time travel.", [Relativity]

Ducane transports Janeway and Seven to their correct time frames although he does not see it necessary to erase their memories of events since their only time jumps were to their pasts and not their futures. It is most likely that Braxton, already suffering from severe temporal psychosis and now a broken man, will have to undergo further extensive rehabilitation, but it is not known whether he will want to or be permitted to return to duties within Starfleet..
