SUMMARY: Seven experiences time travel on Voyager when she is recruited to track down a time-travelling saboteur.

It is Janeway's first day aboard USS Voyager in 2371. While she tours her new ship, she meets but does not recognise Seven who is disguised as a Starfleet ensign and without any outward sign of any Borg implants.

Seven, disguised as a Starfleet ensign, discreetly gets out of the way of Janeway of the 2371 time period

Seven has been assigned to track down the location of a weapon which has been secretly planted on the ship, and she reports back to Captain Braxton in the future. Seven learns where the weapon was placed but they still need to know when. After Janeway is alerted to a chroniton flux (an anomalous phenomenon, indicating something temporal), she almost discovers Seven's mission.

Seven discovers the location of the weapon, a temporal disruptor

In the nick of time, to prevent contamination of the timeline, Braxton beams Seven from Voyager, but she is dead when she arrives back on Braxton's ship, the 29th century timeship USS Relativity.

Braxton orders his men to go back in time and retrieve Seven before Voyager explodes in what would be the third time they have recruited Seven in an attempt to save the crew. On Voyager, temporal distortions are fracturing spacetime throughout the ship. When Seven and Torres investigate, Seven's ocular implant detects a device emitting the distortions. Before they can take action, the hull begins to demolecularise. Janeway orders the crew to abandon ship.

On her way to an escape pod, Seven is apprehended by Braxton's men who beam her away, and she is once again welcomed to the Federation Timeship Relativity. She is 500 years in the future, and, having no memory of previous recruitments, learns afresh that Braxton wants to solve the mystery of who planted the weapon that destroyed Voyager.

His crew has recruited Seven because of her ocular implant's ability to detect irregularities in spacetime. Once they persuade her to help them, and following an order from Braxton to avoid Janeway who is known for headache infringements of the Temporal Prime Directive, Seven is beamed to Voyager two years before she became part of the crew.

Captain Braxton

The ship is under attack from the Kazon, and Braxton believes this is the time when the saboteur boarded the vessel and planted the device. Seven is to find him and stop him at all costs. Seven checks the ship and finds no sign of the weapon or the intruder. When Janeway detects a chroniton flux and remembers the same thing happening two years earlier, she investigates and finds Seven, whom she recognises as the ensign she met on the first day on board. When Janeway refuses to trust Seven's insistence that she be released to save the ship unless a full explanation is given, Seven decides to explain and asks for Janeway's trust in her seemingly implausible story. Janeway decides to trust her. When they are suddenly alerted to an intruder, they find an older version of Braxton planting the weapon. Suffering from temporal psychosis, the future Braxton names Janeway as the cause of his problems, stemming from her numerous interfering experiences with time travel. He suddenly jumps to two years earlier, and Seven pursues him.

When he is trapped by forcefields, Braxton jumps five years ahead. By this time, Seven is suffering temporal psychosis due to the time jumps. Encountering herself in that time period, she recruits herself, and the Seven of that time period apprehends Braxton. That Braxton, plus Seven and the Janeway of that time period are transported to the Relativity, where Janeway is startled to discover that there are two versions of Braxton and two versions of Seven.

Seven apprehends Braxton and he is beamed aboard the Relativity where he is put in the Brig to await trial for crimes he is going to commit

Janeway agrees to travel back in time to her first day on Voyager in order to capture yet another version of Braxton — this one being the actual saboteur who planted the temporal disruptor weapon. She does so and thus cleans up the timeline by preventing any of it from happening in the first place.

As she and Seven are about to be beamed off the Relativity to their correct respective timeframes, Janeway is exhorted by the new captain of the Relativity (who has replaced Braxton) to avoid time travel in future.

quote  BRAXTON TO SEVEN: "Your Captain has a knack for sticking her nose where it doesn't belong especially when it comes to time travel. Helpful? That woman has been responsible for three major temporal incursions. And who do you think had to repair the damage? Me. She's reckless, she has no regard for the integrity of the timeline. I asked for her help once. She refused and I ended up stranded in the late twentieth century."
