Aboard the Delta Flyer, Paris has been making repairs and adjustments at a maintenance access panel. Paris: "Ready, Tuvok?" Tuvok: "Ready." Paris: "Cross your fingers."
There is a flash on the console by Tuvok as the circuits burn out. Tuvok reports: "The magnetic relays have overloaded." Paris: "I'd better find another way to polarise this hull or their sensors won't be able to pick us up."
Samantha: "We're never getting out of here." Tuvok: "Do not give up hope. The probability of our being rescued is low but not statistically impossible." Paris: "Comforting." Samantha: "Who's going to look after Naomi?" Tuvok: "You should not concern yourself with that now." Samantha: "How can you say that?"
Tuvok: "My youngest child has been without a father for four years. Yet I am certain of her well-being, that I conveyed my values to her before leaving, and I have confidence in the integrity of those around her. You have been an exemplary mother to Naomi, and she is in the hands of people you trust. She will survive and prosper, no matter what becomes of us." Samantha: "Thanks, Tuvok."

Naomi wakes suddenly, calling, "Mom!" Awake now, she calls, "Neelix?" Getting no reply: "Computer, locate Neelix." Computer: "Neelix is on the Bridge." Naomi: "Thank you."

On her way to the Bridge, Naomi sees and hears a group of crewmembers, led by Torres, approaching so she heads back the way she has come, not wanting them to see her.

Torres: "Strickler, we need three more phaser drills. You two: pattern enhancers and medkits." "Aye, sir." Torres leads the remaining crewmembers into the transporter room.
"We're going to have to recalibrate these tricorders. Where is the Alpha team?" The transporter officer reports: "Setting co-ordinates." Torres: "Energise." Torres' team beams down to the planetoid.
But Naomi has hidden in the transporter room, and has seen and heard everything.

Two members of the crew involved in the search and rescue mission go past. As one speaks and the other replies: "Not as far as I can tell." neither notice Naomi.

Naomi, her suspicions roused by the crew activity she has seen, gets in the turbolift and orders it: "Deck 1, bridge."

	On the planetoid Chakotay taps his combadge. combadge "Chakotay to Voyager. We found what looks like a piece of the starboard nacelle." Janeway: "Any sign of the shuttle itself?" Chakotay: "Not yet."
	Seven: "Captain, the cavern has collapsed ahead of us. However, I am reading a hull signature behind the debris." Janeway: "The Flyer?" "I'll need to take a closer reading." Janeway: "Do it. Out."

Janeway orders: "I want Alpha and Beta teams to search for survivors. Tell Sickbay to stand by for heavy casualties." Naomi enters the Bridge and overhears the last part of Janeway's order.

Naomi can see the focus of operations on the main viewscreen. At first Neelix and Janeway are unaware that Naomi has arrived.

The truth of the situation dawns fully on Naomi. The rocky planetoid she can see on the viewscreen must be where her mother is, and the crew are searching for "heavy casualties"!
Neelix happens to turn, and spots Naomi.

"Naomi." He calls after her as she rushes back into the turbolift. "Naomi?" But she ignores him and the turbolift doors close on her.

Janeway is most concerned that Naomi should find out about her mother this way.

Neelix follows Naomi. He calls: "Naomi?" When he gets no reply: "Computer, locate Naomi Wildman." Computer: "Naomi Wildman is in her quarters."

But when Neelix enters the Wildman quarters, he finds her combadge attached to the Flotter doll which is sitting on her bed, for she had taken neither her combadge nor her Flotter doll with her.

Holding the doll, he observes: "Clever."

Naomi is at the Holodeck entrance. She manages to reach the control panel, presses the activation control and orders: "Computer: resume program - Flotter, Trevis and the Ogre of Fire." Computer: "Program activated." holodeck doors
