Kim: "I've got a lock. Beaming the probe into the cargo hold. Got it!" Paris: "Initiating rapid ascent." Torres slides from her chair, hurries toward the panel and fetches open her engineering kit. She gets out a tool. Torres: "Harry, I need those secondary systems back online." Kim: "I can't. They're fried."

The mircofractures threaten to cause full breaches.

Torres pulls off a maintenance access panel.

Torres puts the panel over the one with the microfractures and starts to seal it in place using the engineering tool. Seven: "Lieutenant, what are you doing?" Torres: "Patching the hole before it opens."

Kim: "That'll never hold." Torres: "It'll hold a minute or two, and with any luck that's all we need. Seven, take over here."

Seven comes over and takes over sealing the panel in place.

Torres, holding a piece of equipment, looks round then calls: "I need an EPS relay." Kim: "Er, there's one in the transporter control circuitry."

Seven: "The panel is sealed." Torres: "Good. Get away from it." Seven returns to her post.

Torres hauls out an EPS relay from the transporter control circuitry. There is a small explosion and a flash as she forcibly disconnects it from that circuitry.

Torres starts to jury-rig her device.

Torres calls: "I need a phaser." Kim picks one up from near his left side and throws it to her.

The patch will not hold much longer!

Torres inserts the phaser into her device, activates it, and adjusts the EPS relay. She positions the device so that it is pointing directly at the collapsing panel.

Torres calls to everyone: "Watch out. I don't know if this is going to work."

The device successfully creates a forcefield.

Not a moment too soon, as the panel gives way. Torres turns to flee the vicinity.

The Delta Flyer jolts as the full breach occurs, but she reaches the support of a bulkhead.

Kim: "Glad you decided to come along."

The Delta Flyer returns from the successful mission.

Voyager's Bridge. Tuvok: "The Delta Flyer has docked."

Janeway: "And the Malon?" Chakotay, reporting from the instrument read-outs: "They're a little pre-occupied. Seems their shuttlecraft's having a problem climbing out of the gas giant's atmosphere." Janeway: "Get us out of here, Ensign, warp 2." Female Ensign at the conn: "Aye, Captain."

Afterwards, with the gas giant left behind, USS Voyager is cruising at warp speed back on course for the Alpha Quadrant.

Torres is heading for the Messhall. Chakotay runs after her and catches her up.

She stops and waits for him.

Chakotay: "B'Elanna, I heard you did a hell of a job. So, how are you?" Torres: "Do you mean, am I back to my old charming self? I don't know." Chakotay: "Give it time."

He moves back the way he came. Torres stops him: "Chakotay," and he turns, "what you did down in the Holodeck today, thanks."

She continues, with humour: "But if you ever do anything like that again, I'll break your neck." He smiles. She turns and leaves, and Chakotay does the same, going back the way he came.

Voyager's Messhall. Torres to the replicator: "Computer, one stack of banana pancakes with maple syrup."

She goes to a table with the plate, sits down, and takes a mouthful.

The pancakes taste good. She smiles.
