Episode 95 : Part D

On the Bridge Kim reports: "I've found the cause of our power drain. It's some kind of dampening field. The source is off the port bow."
Tuvok: "On screen." But nothing can be seen. "Do we have the power to launch a photon torpedo?"
Kim: "Maybe one. Why?"
Tuvok: "Perhaps we could shed some light on our predicament. I am reconfiguring the torpodo to emit a sustained polyluminous burst."
Kim: "A warp flare?"
Tuvok: "Precisely."

On the Holodeck Paris points his torch beam around as he moves. Suddenly the light falls on an alien standing in front of him! Paris is taken by surprise when the alien attacks him.

Quickly Seven picks up the holographic ray-gun. She orders: "Computer, disengage safety protocols!"

Seven fires at the alien. She stuns it and it falls.

Meanwhile in the corridor Chakotay's light falls upon another member of the same alien species.

But as the alien makes to attack him, there is a blast from a phaser rifle. It is Janeway!

Janeway fires again but the alien manages to escape.

Janeway orders Chakotay and Neelix to follow her.

Once the torpedo is reconfigured and fired, three ships are lit up and thus are visible on the Bridge's main viewscreen.

Seven takes the injured Paris to Sickbay. She sets off to bring the injured alien there too.

Janeway, Chakotay and Neelix arrive in Main Engineering, bringing with them a power cell. Janeway tells Torres: "This power cell should be enough to get emergency power back online." Torres orders her staff to "hook it up directly to the EPS manifold!"
Janeway and Chakotay man the control console on the upper level.

On the Bridge:
Kim: "Emergency power just came back online. We've got tactical."
Tuvok: "Raising shields."
Tuvok reports to Janeway that the ship is "surrounded by three alien vessels. Seventeen intruders are on board."
When Chakotay reports they have weapons online Janeway orders Tuvok to target the ship off the port bow and fire a few warning shots. The aliens respond by firing almost continuously at Voyager. The shields go down to 64 per cent. The aliens reinitialise the dampening field and power is lost again.

Unexpectedly Chakotay reports the aliens are calling off the attack and the intruders are beaming off Voyager. Suddenly the alien ships themselves come under attack from what looks like a massive freighter ship that flies ponderously spilling out dirty green smoke. The attacking alien ships retreat.

As Tuvok starts to introduce himself to Voyager's rescuer, he is interrupted as the newcomer tells him: "I had to fire 13 spatial charges to drive those ships off. I expect to be compensated."
Tuvok: "Of course."
Alien: "Now, what are you doing in the middle of nowhere?"
