Janet's Star Trek Voyager Site

UNFORGETTABLE : Episode 90
Part A

USS Voyager cruising at impulse speed.

On Voyager's bridge, Kim is talking to Chakotay about an operational matter regarding the collection of fuel. "When the Captain told us to start collecting deuterium, Seven suggested a series of modifications to the Bussard collectors. Problem is: I didn't realise the extent of the modifications until after we'd begun the sweep. I mean, not that there was anything wrong with them, in fact efficiency is up 23 per cent-"
Chakotay: "In a nutshell, Harry."
Kim: "The collectors are almost full but I can't tell exactly how full until I realign my sensors with Seven's."
Chakotay: "Why didn't you just say so? Next time, work closer with her from the start."
Kim feels a bit disconcerted. He once felt a romantic attraction towards Seven. "Closer? Right."

As Chakotay goes to the First Officer's chair, Paris comes over to Kim.
Paris teases him: "So, you're going to realign your sensors with Seven's? Sounds like fun."
Kim: "Very funny."

Suddenly the ship lurches as something impacts the hull.
Chakotay: "What was that? Are you getting feedback from Seven's modifications?"
Kim: "Negative."

Janeway enters the Bridge. "Report."
Tuvok: "I am picking up proton surges just outside the ship. The first was off the port beam and the second two were off the starboard bow."

Janeway: "On screen." The image comes up. "There's nothing out there."

Paris: "Whatever it is, it's getting closer."

Janeway: "Red alert." Via comms: "Janeway to Astrometrics."
Seven, in the Astrometrics Lab, via comms: "Yes, Captain."

Janeway, via comms: "Use the astrometric sensors to scan for the disturbance."
Seven, via comms: "I'm detecting close-range weapons fire."
Janeway: "Source?"
Seven, via comms: "Proton surges suggest two cloaked ships engaged in battle."
Kim: "With us caught in the middle."
Janeway: "Evasive maneuvers."
Paris: "Aye, sir."

Chakotay: "There's a massive power surge, like one of the ships is exploding."

Suddenly an alien spacecraft becomes visible.
Tuvok scans it. "Captain, there is one lifesign aboard the vessel." Puzzled: "It is no longer on our sensors."

Kim: "We're being hailed, audio only."

Janeway: "Let's hear it."
A female voice is heard: "Chakotay, please, I need your help! Chakotay, are you reading me? Please answer."
Surprised, Chakotay answers: "This is Commander Chakotay. Who are you?"
"Please, anyone on Voyager, if you can hear me, I need help!"

Tuvok: "There has been an explosion on the vessel."
Kim: "The hull is destabilising. Life support is offline."
Janeway: "Beam her directly to Sickbay."

Kim: "Targetting her co-ordinates. I've lost her. Trying again. I don't understand. I get a clear lock then it drops out."
Chakotay to Janeway: "If we could get an away team over there we could stabilise her ship and tractor it in."
Janeway: "Do it."
Chakotay: "Tom, Tuvok, let's find out what's going on." They head for the turbolift.

Chakotay, Tuvok and Paris beam aboard the alien ship.

They scan using tricorders.
Tuvok reports his tricorder readings: "Environmental systems are not functioning. Oxygen levels are dangerously low."

Chakotay: "Tom, try to get life support online."
Tuvok, from the tricorder: "No lifesigns."
Chakotay to Tuvok: "See if you can stabilise the hull. I'll look for the pilot."

Chakotay explores. He spots a leg sticking out from under some fallen debris. "Hello! Can you hear me?"
The pilot calls: "Chakotay! Is that you?"

Chakotay: "Yes. I'm going to get this bulkhead off you."
Pilot: "But the beam will fall."

Chakotay looks for a tool to use as a lever: "I'm going to pry the bulkhead off you. When I say 'now' get ready to roll out of there like your life depended on it."
Pilot: "Right."

Chakotay: "Ready?"
Pilot: "Yes.
Chakotay: "Now!"
He levers up the bulkhead and the woman alien rolls out from under it to safety.
She is injured. She tells him, relieved: "I knew you'd come."

Chakotay: "Do I know you?" He taps his combadge. audio: combadgecombadge "Chakotay to Voyager. Two to beam directly to Sickbay." They dematerialises as the transporter beam locks onto them.
