WAKING MOMENTS
Episode 81 : Part F
 | In the dream, Tuvok forces open the doors to Main Engineering. |
 | He, Janeway and Tuvok enter and go up to one of the control consoles. |
 | Examining the console read-outs, Janeway comments: "Looks like a complete power drain."
Torres: "Their dampening field has shut down the warp core." Tuvok: "Which begs the question of what they intend to do with an unpowered ship." |
 | Janeway: "Tuvok, grab some phaser rifles from the weapons locker." Tuvok goes off to do so. "Something tells me that when we disable the dampening field we're going to get the aliens' attention."
Torres: "It looks like they're using harmonic inversion technology. If I can isolate the containment frequency I may be able to get main power back online." She does so and the warp core comes back online immediately. "That was easy." |
 | Computer: "Warning: warp core breach in 60 seconds."
Janeway: "Maybe a little too easy." |
 | Torres: "I don't understand."
Janeway: "Can you eject the core?" Tuvok returns with three phaser rifles. Torres: "I'm trying. It's not working." Suddenly the see-through material containing the core cracks. Computer: "Warp core breach in 50 seconds." Torres: "We've got to get out of here. I'm trying to put a containment field around engineering." Computer: "Warp core breach in 40 seconds." Torres: "Got it!" Janeway: "Let's move!" |
 | As they head for the exit, Janeway shouts: "I don't understand why you couldn't eject the core!"
Computer: "Warp core breach in 30 seconds." |
 | Janeway: "Something's not right!"
Tuvok: "Captain, we must hurry!" |
 | Janeway: "I'm going back in there."
Torres: "You'll be killed!" Computer: "Warp core breach in 20 seconds." Janeway: "I think I'm onto something. You two go!" Tuvok: "Captain!" Janeway: "That's an order!" |  |
 | Janeway heads back into Engineering. |
 | Computer: "Warp core breach in 10 seconds.....9....8....7....6....5", Torres and Tuvok gain the corridor and the doors close behind them, "....4....3....2....1."
There is an almighty explosion within Engineering. |
 | Then the doors open and Janeway comes out! "Either I've become impervious to antimatter explosions or we're still dreaming."

 | Torres: "A warp core explosion should've destroyed the ship."
Janeway: "If I were awake or if any of this were real, which it obviously isn't. Things just weren't adding up: Chakotay's disappearing, the warp core failing to eject, and as Chakotay said, lucid dreaming is about taking control, so I took a chance." |
 | Tuvok: "Surely there must have been a less extreme method of testing your assumptions. As Captain, you should not be taking chances with your life."
Janeway: "I'm touched by your concern, Tuvok." |
 | Torres: "Now that we know this is a dream, what do we do?"
Tuvok: "I suggest we find a way to regain consciousness." |
 | Janeway taps the back of hand three times. |
 | On the Bridge, Chakotay turns as the turbolift doors open and he sees Janeway stride onto the Bridge. |
 | Chakotay: "Captain, how did you wake yourself?"
Janeway: "Same way you did." Chakotay: "The others?" Janeway: "They should all be starting to wake up." |
 | Doctor: "Rise and shine, Mr Paris."
Chakotay: "We need to get as far away from their planet as possible." Janeway: "Agreed." |
 | Chakotay: "I'll make the necessary course correction." |
 | He starts to do so but when he looks at the main viewscreen he sees Earth's moon - he is still asleep, still dreaming! |  |
 | Janeway, who cannot see the moon on the viewscreen, questions his hesitation. "What is it?"
Chakotay: "This isn't real." Janeway: "Of course it is." Chakotay taps the back of his hand three times. Nothing changes - he remains in the same situation. Janeway: "See?" Chakotay: "No." He taps the back of his hand again. |
 | Janeway: "Doctor?"
Doctor: "He's paranoid, disoriented. I suspect much of the crew will suffer similar symptoms when they awake." The Doctor holds a hypospray and tells Chakotay: "Try to relax, Commander. I'm going to give you sedate you." |
 | Chakotay shouts: "No!" Chakotay grabs the Doctor's hands, trying to prevent him from using the hypospray. "I need to wake up, not to sleep!"
Doctor: "I'm trying to help you." |
 | Janeway signals Paris who seizes Chakotay and holds him still. Chakotay shouts, "No!" as the Doctor forcibly administers the sedation. |
