WAKING MOMENTS
Episode 81 : Part A

Seven: "Ensign Kim, I require your assistance in Jefferies tube 37 alpha." Kim: "Well, can't it wait? I just got off duty." Seven: "It is urgent."

Tuvok is asleep in his quarters.
The com. alert wakes him and a female bridge officer says: "Bridge to Commander Tuvok." Tuvok, via comms: "Tuvok here." Bridge officer: "You're needed on the Bridge, sir." Tuvok: "On my way."

Janeway enters a totally dark Messhall. "Computer, lights on." But the lights stay off. "Neelix? Is anybody here?"

Paris is piloting a shuttlecraft. Chakotay, via comms: "Voyager to Lieutenant Paris." Paris, via comms: "Paris here." Chakotay, via comms: "How's it going out there, Tom?" Paris, via comms: "One more orbit and I should have all the data we need." Chakotay, via comms: "Good work. See you when you get back. Chakotay out."

Tuvok makes his way to the Bridge. As he walks along a corridor he acknowledges two crewmembers who see him and look away: "Crewman. Ensign." One replies: "Hello, sir."

Seven and Kim arrive at the relevant place in the Jefferies tube network.

Kim uses his tricorder to check Seven's work. "Looks to me like you aligned the power couplings perfectly." Seven: "I did." Kim: "If you're so sure, then why do you need me to look?" Seven: "I did not." Kim: "Then what's this all about?"

Seven: "I've learned from observing Lieutenants Torres and Paris that humans sometimes require a pretext for being intimate with one another." She takes hold of him. Kim is puzzled. "Intimate?"

Seven shoves him firmly against the bulkhead. "Resistance is futile." She takes him completely by surprise as she kisses him passionately!

In the shuttlecraft there is a sudden large explosion. Paris, via comms: "Paris to Voyager!" Chakotay, via comms: "Voyager here." Paris, via comms: "My primary warp manifold just ruptured! I've lost helm control. Auxiliary power is offline. Thrusters won't respond." Chakotay, via comms: "Say again, Tom. Your signal's breaking up." Paris, via comms: "My orbit's decaying! I don't think I can hold it." Chakotay, via comms: "Repeat that, Tom." Paris, via comms: "I need an emergency beam-out!!!" Chakotay, via comms: "Voyager to Lieutenant Paris. Come in."

In the Messhall Janeway walks forward uncertainly. "Neelix?"
Neelix appears, making her jump. His movements appear stiff. "What can I do for you, Captain?" Janeway: "Where is everybody?" Neelix: "Didn't you see them when you came in?" Janeway: "No." Neelix: "Take a look." He leads her over to a table by the window. In the dim light she can see there are figures seated around the table. Neelix: "Computer, activate lights."

The computer does so. In the sudden flood of light, Janeway jumps in horror. The figures are members of the crew, dead, covered with cobwebs!

Tuvok exits the turbolift onto the Bridge. "Lieutenant Commander Tuvok reporting for duty."

The senior staff are facing away from him. They turn and upon seeing him suddenly burst into laughter.

Tuvok: "Is something wrong?" Paris, highly amused: "I think you forgot something, Tuvok."

They cannot stop laughing. Tuvok looks down at himself. He is naked!

Tuvok: "It appears that in my haste to report to the Bridge I neglected to put on my uniform."

He turns and re-enters the turbolift, the sound of their hysterical laughter ringing in the air. In the turbolift, Tuvok suddenly finds he is not alone - there is an unknown alien there, watching him!

Janeway: "What happened to them?" Neelix: "They died." Janeway: "Why?" Neelix: "You didn't get them home in time."

That is the essence of Janeway's fears, her worst nightmare - failing to get her crew home. Suddenly she sees an unknown alien standing there, the same one that Tuvok saw in the turbolift!

Paris is about to die in an horrific shuttlecraft crash. Suddenly the figure of an alien appears in front of him, immediately outside the front window, the same one that Tuvok and Janeway saw!

Kim is thoroughly enjoying being kissed by Seven.

When she stops and moves away, he sighs appreciatively, relishing the delightful warm feeling it has given him.

He opens his eyes, expecting to see Seven there, but instead there is an unknown alien! It is the same alien seen by Tuvok, Janeway and Paris! Kim screams.

Kim is in bed asleep, having a nightmare.

Tuvok wakes, and realises he has had a nightmare.

Janeway wakes, and realises she has had a vivid nightmare, and she is unable to shake the feeling of horror it has given her.

Paris wakes up. He still feels traumatised by his extremely vivid nightmare.
