In Voyager's Science Lab, Chakotay breaks the rock so that it can be taken apart while Torres uses a tricorder to scan it. The Nezu Ambassador looks on.
	Torres: "I've completed the mineralogical scans. The rock is composed of trioxcene, olivine... Wait a minute. I'm reading a concentration of triadium." Ambassador: "Triadium? Isn't that an alloy?" Torres: "Yes."
	Chakotay: "B'Elanna, give me a hand with this." They pull on each end and the rock breaks into two pieces. There is machinery inside it!

Torres: "This doesn't look like any asteroid I've ever seen, but I'll bet it's the source of our triadium. It looks like a control node for some kind of guidance system."
Chakotay: "Ambassador, I've a feeling these asteroids aren't striking your planet by chance."

In the station, repairs are progressing. Tuvok: "Are we ready to bring main power back online?" Neelix: "I, I think so." Tuvok: "The coil bypass is active." He goes to a an open base panel and throws the switch. The main power comes on, including the main lights. Neelix: "The bypass is holding. Congratulations, Mr Vulcan. We've done it!" Tuvok: "We must still repair the oxygen regenerators and the damaged tether couplings." Neelix: "Then let's get started. I'll go check on the oxygen supply."

He climbs the steps. "How's it coming, Lillias?" Lillias is frustrated. "I still can't get this power relay online. I'm not an orbital engineer. I can't do this." Neelix: "Maybe I can help. Let's see. Aha, you need to recalibrate the pressure valve, like this." He demonstrates. "That should about do it."

He realises: "We're going to need a name." Lillias: "A name?" Neelix: "For the mag-lev carriage. Whenever we finished building a tether on Rinax we named a carriage for good luck. Any suggestions?" Lillias: "No."

Neelix talks about Alixia and his family

Neelix: "How about....Alixia?" Lillias: "Alixia?" Neelix: "My favourite sister." Sitting on one of the steps, he reminisces. "She was always taking me out to explore. She showed me the Caves of Touth, the equatorial dust shrouds. Once she even took me hunting for arctic spiders. Whenever I think of her I think of adventure, and this is an adventure she would appreciate. What d'you think?" Lillias agrees. She asks: "Where is your sister now?" Neelix: "She was killed when I was a young man, in a war on my homeworld. My entire family was lost." Lillias: "I'm sorry." Neelix: "I still see each of them, every night. Before I go to sleep I recall their faces and share something about my day with each of them. And tonight I'm going to have quite a lot to tell them." Lillias comes and sits with him and offers him a drink from her supplies. "Thank you." Lillias: "I have a sister too. Halla. Three weeks ago, after the first impact, our home was destroyed and we were separated. I haven't seen her since. I don't even know if she's alive." Neelix: "When we get back to Voyager I'll ask my Captain to help you find her." Tuvok calls to him: "Mr Neelix." Neelix says to Lillias, "Excuse me."

He goes over to the main console where Tuvok is working. "Yes, sir!"
Tuvok: "Your interpersonal activities are delaying our progress."
Neelix: "What do you mean?"
Tuvok: "Since we arrived you have spent as much time engaged in idle conversation as you have making repairs."
Neelix: "I'm just trying to cheer everyone up a little."
Tuvok: "Your function at the moment is to repair this vessel, not to boost morale. This is not the Holodeck nor the Messhall. This is a life-threatening situation and your attention should be focussed on one thing alone - our safe return to Voyager."
Neelix: "I'm sorry, sir. I'll finish as fast as I can."

Tuvok moves away to another job, leaving Neelix to ponder his rebuke and the latest evidence that he and Tuvok do not get on.

The group is busy doing repairs and discussing them. Suddenly Neelix notices activity inside the mag-lev carriage and that the door to it is shut. He sees Vatm inside at the main console.
Neelix shouts: "Dr Vatm, what are you doing?"
Lillias: "He's opening the launch doors. He's leaving without us!"

	Neelix shouts through the door: "Dr Vatm! Please, stop!" But Vatm cannot hear him, and would not stop even if he could. Neelix turns and yells at the others: "The tether hasn't been secured! If he launches now he'll destabilise the entire cavern!"
	Hanjuan and Sklar rush up to the door, begging Vatm to wait for them. Tuvok, more practically, tells them to "Stand aside," and puts a device on the door lock which opens the door.
	Tuvok hurries inside and pulls Vatm away from the console, while the others rush inside the cabin behind him.
	Neelix looks at the control readings: "It's too late! The cabin support structure's collapsing. We've got to get out of here." Tuvok: "Can we launch?" Neelix: "I think so." Tuvok: "Seal that door." Sklar: "I despise enclosed spaces." Neelix: "Hang on!"
	The mag-lev carriage, shaking violently, starts it way up the tether!
