| Part A | Suder, who is in confinement quarters after murdering a fellow crewman, and Tuvok start a meditation session, one of a series to change Suder's violent nature. Suder asks to do "something for the ship". Seska sends Voyager a distress call claiming her son by Chakotay is in danger. Janeway and Chakotay discuss it. Chakotay consults his dead father in a vision quest. |
| Part B | As Voyager sets course to help Seska, the senior staff discuss tactics and defence against the Kazon-Nistrim. They rescue an injured Kazon-Nistrim officer named Tierna who tells them Culluh killed Seska and took her baby. Chakotay, who was once tortured by Tierna, tries to check his story. |
| Part C | Tierna gives Voyager valuable inside tactical information about the Kazon-Nistrim. Voyager is attacked by Kazon ships. Janeway examines Suder's idea for doing something for the ship but his insistence on an immediate reply sours the interview. The Kazon carry out a series of tactically-specific attacks on Voyager. Tierna is released from Sickbay although the Doctor cannot pinpoint the cause of a particular blood disorder. |
| Part D | Tierna is confined in quarters adjoining Suder's. The crew employ holographic decoys during a major Kazon assault. Tierna enacts his pre-planned role as a suicide bomber - his death causes an explosion which rips through Voyager. |
| Part E | Paris takes a shuttlecraft, intent on getting help from a Talaxian colony, but is fired on by a Kazon warship. Thanks to Tierna, Voyager is disabled and boarded by the Kazon. The crew learn that Seska is alive, and that the distress call was part of the plan to capture the ship. |
| Part F | The Kazon secure the ship, putting all prisoners in a cargo bay, but the Doctor evades capture by going offline and ordering the computer to bring him online later, and the invaders find no one in Suder's destroyed quarters. Culluh lands Voyager on Hanon IV. |
| Part G | The prisoners are dispossessed of all technology and stranded on Hanon IV. As the Kazon leave in Voyager, the Starfleet crew split into four groups to search for survival basics. They spot two Hanonians, who have a primitive society. On Voyager, the Doctor rematerialises, and Suder, who is alive, stays in hiding. |
| Part G ends Part One as broadcast on television, ending Season Two. Part H starts Part Two as broadcast on television, starting Season Three. | |
| Part H | Ensign Wildman's baby becomes sick. While salvaging humanoid bones from the entrance to a cave, Hogan is mysteriously killed. Paris is attacked by a Kazon ship. The Voyager crew take shelter in caves. |
| Part I | Seska visits Sickbay. The Doctor convinces her he is not partisan. Scans reveal that the father of her baby is not Chakotay but Culluh's. The Doctor secretly contacts Suder who agrees to come to Sickbay. On Hanon IV, Chakotay starts a fire so the crew can keep warm. While searching for Neelix, Kes is kidnapped by natives. |
| Part J | Paris persuades Paxim, Talaxian commander, to assist in recapturing Voyager. Arriving in Sickbay, Suder is willing to help the Doctor recapture the ship but is disturbed at the thought that he might have to kill some of the enemy, just when he believes he is close to overcoming his violent tendencies. Tuvok manufactures bows and arrows for the crew. Chakotay rescues Kes and Neelix from the Hanonians but their leader orders his followers to pursue them. |
| Part K | Chakotay's group take refuge in a cave. The Hanonians stay at the cave entrance, trapping them. Suspecting that the Kazon did not capture all the Voyager crew, Seska orders a deck by deck search. Using a Maquis trick, Suder requests a thoron generator from the Doctor to help him hide from tricoder scans. |
| Part L | Wildman's baby becomes more ill. The Hanonians start a fire at the cave entrance. Chakotay's group decides to go through the caves. They find and accidentally waken a Hanonian land eel, a large fiercesome carnivore which pursues them back to the cave mouth. Janeway's group distract the Hanonians and unblock the cave entrance, allowing the crew to escape. On Voyager, a Kazon approaches Suder's hiding place. |
| Part M | Paris contacts the Doctor by secretly piggy-backing the transmission onto a fake Kazon message. He tells him to take out the backup phasers when Paris attacks the ship. Suder returns to Sickbay, nauseated because he had to kill a Kazon. The fake message to Culluh says Paris' shuttlecraft was destroyed. On Hanon IV, the crew are forced to flee by heavy volcanic activity. Seska challenges the Doctor as being the saboteur. He persuades her he acted alone. She disables his program. |
| Part N | Talaxian ships lure Voyager toward Paris. The Doctor leaves Suder a pre-recorded message of encouragement. On Hanon IV, a native woman is trapped on a rock surrounded by molten lava. Chakotay rescues her, thereby making friends of the Hanonians who decide to lead them to a place of safety. Paris attacks Voyager. |
| Part O | Suder takes out the backup phasers but is killed doing so. Paris takes out the main phasers. When the Kazon switch to backups the overload causes an explosive discharge which fatally injures Seska. Paris and the Talaxians board Voyager, forcing Culluh to abandon ship, taking his baby with him. |
| Part P | On Hanon IV, Wildman's baby is successfully treated by the Hanonian leader's medicine. Voyager returns, piloted by Paris, and retrieves the crew. |
