Part P

 

On the planet surface, the combined party of Voyager crew and native tribespeople have reached the safety of high rocks a long way from the volcano.

Samantha Wildman's baby is still ill and crying continuously.

The chief points to himself then produces medicine and gives it to the child who soon stops crying.

Kes: "She's breathing better, isn't she?"

The chief says something gently. Kes smiles, then Janeway, then Wildman, knowing the chief is giving reassurance. Janeway smiles broadly and puts her arm around Wildman for a moment. Wildman nods gratefully to the chief.

Suddenly a male native shouts and points.

They all look then stand up at the momentous sight....

It is USS Voyager coming in to land!

Kim stares at the welcome sight then looks at Janeway and Chakotay.

Janeway and Chakotay look at each other, wondering what the ship's return means.

Kes and the chief stare as Voyager prepares to land.

Other Voyager crewmembers look on.

The turbolift doors on Voyager's bridge open. Janeway, Kim, a female crewmember and Ayala enter. Ayala goes to tactical/security and takes over from Paxim.

Paris: "Welcome back, Captain." Janeway: "Well done, Lieutenant." Paris: "I had a lot of help. The Talaxians, the Doc, Mr Suder." Janeway turns and looks at Paris at the name "Suder". Kim, heading for his station at Ops: "Suder? We thought he was killed during the initial attack." Paris: "No, he and the Doctor sabotaged the ship. Suder disabled the phasers before they killed him." Janeway pats Paris on his upper arm.

Voyager's Sickbay. The dead body of Suder lies on a biobed. Doctor: "You would have been proud of him, Mr Tuvok."

Tuvok: "I offer you a Vulcan prayer, Mr Suder. May your death bring you the peace you never found in life."

Seska's body is on the next biobed. Chakotay re-arranges her hair, then pulls up the cover over her.

Paris at the helm on Voyager's bridge.

Janeway enters the Bridge from her Ready Room. She and the rest of the crew are still travel-stained. Chakotay and Tuvok arrive on the Bridge from Sickbay. Janeway: "Mr Kim, is this ship capable of sustained flight?"

Kim: "All propulsion and navigational systems are functioning within normal parameters, Captain." Janeway: "Good. Take us away from our new home and set a course for the old one, Mr Paris, warp 8."

Tuvok takes his post at the security/tactical station.

Paris, laying in the course: "Heading 41 mark 77, destination Alpha Quadrant." She sits in the captain's chair. "Engage."

Chakotay gives a small smile. They are all pleased to be back on board and heading for home.

Voyager's warp nacelles fold upwards and the starship jumps to warp.
