Suddenly Voyager crewmen appear on the top of the rocks.

Tuvok fires an arrow which injures and downs one of the pursuers. The other crewmen throw spears.

Chakotay, Neelix and Kes make it to the group of rescuers and together they flee the natives.

But as they flee, they see one route blocked off by their pursuers. Chakotay sees a cave entrance. "In there!"

Neelix notices bones at the entrance. "Commander, that looks just like the tunnel where Hogan-"

Chakotay: "I know. If they know it too, they won't follow us in. Come on!"

They rush into the cave.

The natives follow but hesitate to enter the cave. Instead they remain outside, shouting and waving their weapons.

Inside the cave, the Voyager crewmembers find themselves hurrying through a narrow passage, which is dark with barely any light reaching it. Chakotay stops and wonders how long the natives will keep them trapped in there.

USS Voyager, stationary in space while the Kazon try to carry out repairs.

In Voyager's Main Engineering, Culluh peers down over the upper level railing: "You'd think this crew had never seen a warp drive before." Seska peers down over the lower level railing: "No one tried to adjust the antimatter flow today?" A Kazon engineer, working on the warp core systems, looks up: "No one."

Culluh, descending to the lower level in the lift: "If you're lying, I'll have your head." Kazon engineer: "I swear it, Maje."

Seska: "There should've been some warning before the antimatter injector froze - a drop in core temperature, a magnetic constriction alarm, something. He's either lying, or-" Culluh: "Or what?"

Realisation dawning, she heads for another console. "Computer, run a level 1 scan for intruders." Computer: "Unable to comply. Internal scanner relays have been damaged."

Culluh berates the engineer again: "I thought you said all repairs were complete." Kazon engineer: "They were. I thought they were."

Unknown to the Kazon, the Doctor and Suder are monitoring them via the Doctor's personal computer in his Sickbay office. They watch as Seska tells the Kazon: "I want a deck-by-deck search of all Jefferies tubes and conduits. Use the Federation tricorders."

Suder: "Do you have a portable thoron generator?" Doctor: "Yes, of course. We use it to treat radiation burns." He hands one to Suder.

Suder: "It's an old Maquis trick. Thoron particles neutralise tricorder sensors."

The Doctor follows Suder as he heads for the Jefferies tube hatch and activates the thoron generator. Doctor: "Mr Suder, we need some weapons if we're going to retake the ship." Suder stops, but does not turn or answer. After a moment he gets into the Jefferies tube and the Doctor shuts the hatch after him.
