Voyager has landed on the planet Hanon IV. The Voyager crew have been herded onto the planet surface.

Kazon go among them, removing combadges, including Janeway's.

Culluh approaches Janeway.

Culluh to Janeway: "A fitting end for a people who would not share their technology."

Culluh continues: "Let's see if you manage to survive without it." He leaves.

Janeway turns and calls out to her crew: "Alright. Let's go."

Janeway: "We've got to find water and shelter."

The Voyager crew on Hanon IV.

Janeway: "We'll divide the crew into teams. Each of you will be a team leader," referring to Neelix, Tuvok and Kim. "Make it clear to all your people that we expect to be rescued and our job is to survive until help arrives."

Neelix: "Do you really think it's likely that someone will find us, Captain?" Janeway: "You're the morale officer, Neelix. You give me an answer." Neelix calls out to everyone encouragingly: "Help is on the way!" Kim: "Maybe Tom's shuttle got through."

Janeway: "It's very important that this crew be given a sense of hope. That's our most important job right now. Our top priority is drinking water. Second is shelter to spend the night." Chakotay: "A clearing with a protected side like the base of a cliff would be best."

Janeway: "Food, fuel. Look for all the basic survival requirements." Chakotay: "That includes anything that can be used as a tool or a weapon." Janeway: "We'll reconvene here in about two hours." Chakotay: "Alright. Start dividing the crew. Looks like we don't have much daylight left. We'll spread the teams out in a standard alpha search pattern to see what we have to work with." Janeway: "Chakotay, Torres, you're with me. Alpha team here."

Tuvok: "Beta team, this way." Kim: "Gamma team." Neelix: "Delta team with me."

As she leads her team away, the ground trembles. Janeway: "The planet seems to be seismically active." Chakotay: "At first glance, it's an M-class planet in a Pliocene stage of evolution." Janeway: "Comparable to Earth several million years ago." Torres hears what to her is the very familiar and recognisable sound of Voyager's engines starting up. They turn, and see....

....Voyager getting ready for launch.

Unseen by anyone is a Hanonian land eel as it watches them from the mouth of its cave before it wanders back inside.

Torres turns, then attracts the attention of Janeway and the others: "Captain."

They see two armed humanoid natives watching them!

The crew watch as Voyager lifts off.

Voyager lifts off. On board, Culluh and Seska are satisfied with their victory.

The crew watch as Voyager is about to leave.....without them.

In Sickbay, the Doctor materialises and walks through the darkened room, wondering what has happened.

In the ruins of his room, Suder looks out from his hiding place as Voyager judders.

Voyager flies away and....

....up toward space, watched by its crew. They are stranded on the planet!

Janeway watches her ship leave.

This is the end of Part One as broadcast on television. Part One ends Season Two.
