Episode 41

Part O

Janeway stands outside the modular shelter, in her uniform and ready to take up her life again as a starship captain and its responsibilities. She cannot help but have some regrets about what could have been.

Chakotay: "Ready?"

The primate returns.

	Janeway smiles and says to it: "There you are. At least I get to say goodbye. Feel free to use the house."
	It is goodbye to their life here. Janeway and Chakotay share a look full of meaning.
	Janeway and Chakotay stand ready to be beamed aboard Voyager. She taps her combadge. combadge "Janeway to Voyager. Two to beam up."
	They are beamed back to Voyager. transporter
	The primate understands they have gone and reaches out to them, as if it misses them.

Janeway and Chakotay enter Voyager's bridge.

Paris stands. He and Kim acknowledge their arrival.

Welcome back, Captain, Commander.

Janeway: "The Doctor tells me you contacted the Vidiians after all."
Tuvok: "I disobeyed your order, Captain. I am prepared to accept the consequences."
Janeway leans toward him and says quietly: "If I didn't know you better, I'd say your decision was almost emotional."

	Janeway: "Thank you, all. Well, we've lost time with all this. Let's see if we can make some of it up. Mr Paris, warp eight." Paris: "Aye, Captain."
	Janeway and Chakotay have returned to being a ship's Captain and Commander. There is not even a hint of the warm personal relationship that developed between them on the planet. Rather, Janeway takes the lead in making the business of running the ship more brisk than before as they resume a course for the Alpha Quadrant and home.
	Janeway: "Commander, we'll need to review the ship's systems. I'll handle propulsion, environmental and communication. You'll be responsible for sensors, weapons and transporters."
	Chakotay: "Aye, Captain. I'll have a report to you by 1800 hours."

Janeway: "Check with phaser maintenance. See if they solved that problem with the pre-fire chamber temperature." Chakotay: "Yes, ma'am, I'll see to it."
