| Janeway is in her Ready Room, coming to a decision about Tuvix. | |
| She decides and, burdened with the heartbreaking responsibility, leaves the Ready Room and enters the Bridge. | |
Janeway: "Mr Tuvix. I'd like to speak to you alone."
Tuvix: "Can I assume that you've come to a decision, Captain?"
Janeway speaks quietly. "I have."
The moment he has been fearing has come. She does not need to voice her decision - he can tell from her manner.
| Tuvix raises his voice to draw the attention of everyone on the Bridge. "I think we all should hear what you have to say." The bridge personnel look in his direction. | |
Janeway: "Please come with me, Mr Tuvix."
Tuvix: "No."
Janeway, impatiently, sharply: "I'm ordering you to come with me."
But Tuvix does not co-operate.
| Now she is very grimly determined, and unimpressed by Tuvix's refusal to come quietly. She makes a comm. call. "Security to the Bridge." | |
| Feeling trapped, Tuvix looks round frantically. He appeals to Chakotay: "Commander, are you going to stand by and do nothing while she commits murder?!" But Chakotay does not speak or move. "Well, Mr Ayala?" Ayala does not respond either. | |
"Yes, Lieutenant Paris...."
But as he reaches Paris, his hands held out in appeal, he can tell that he will get no help there.
| Desperately he calls out: "Doesn't anyone see that this is WRONG?!" | |
| Still no one responds. He realises that they are going to let him die. | |
|
The turbolift doors open and two security guards arrive on the Bridge. Seeing them Tuvix realises that he has no hope.
|
Suddenly Tuvix makes a desperate dash for the corridor exit, but the security guards rush after him and seize hold of him.
After a brief struggle he despairs and accepts the inevitable. With a great effort he composes himself.
Janeway orders the security guards: "Let him go."
Tuvix addresses the people on the Bridge. "Each of you is going to have to live with this, and I'm sorry for that, for you're all good good people - my colleagues, my friends. I forgive you."
They are his last words.
| |
|
The people he has appealed to cannot meet his eyes and they look down or away.
|
Despairing, but holding himself composed with inner strength and brave determination, Tuvix allows himself to be escorted by the guards to the turbolift.
Janeway: "Commander Chakotay, advise the Doctor we're on our way to Sickbay."
She enters the turbolift. "Deck 5," she orders the turbolift and the door closes. It is Tuvix's last sight of the Bridge.
