In Voyager's Engineering, Jonas addresses two crewmembers: "Lieutenant Torres is waiting for these interlink sequencers. Get them to her right away." Female engineer: "Yes, sir." The pair leave Engineering with the data. Neelix enters and goes up to him: "Excuse me." Jonas: "Oh, hello, Neelix." Neelix: "I was wondering if one of you could help me."

Jonas, going over to a console where Hogan is also working: "We're a little busy right now. What is it that you need?" Neelix: "The signal correlation traces that implicated Tom Paris, they were added to the file after the fact."

Hogan: "You're kidding." Neelix: "So I was trying to figure out how that could have happened and who might have done it." Hogan: "This couldn't be a worse time, Neelix. We're getting everything ready for rebuilding the warp coils."

Neelix: "Do you mind if I use the diagnostic terminal over there?" Jonas: "Go ahead. Just don't tap into any engineering systems." Neelix: "I'll be careful." He goes over to a diagnostic console and sits down.

The com. signal sounds. Via comms: "Torres to Engineering." Jonas, via comms: "Jonas here, Lieutenant." Torres, via comms: "I need the electrodynamic load specs. They weren't with the other things you sent." Jonas, via comms: "Sorry, Lieutenant. I'll get them to you right now." He hands a large PADD to Hogan. "Take these to Lieutenant Torres."

Hogan: "Right." He leaves. Neelix is now alone in Engineering with Jonas.

The ship goes to red alert. Lights dim and klaxons sound. Neelix: "What's going on?" The com. signal sounds. Janeway, via comms: "Bridge to Engineering." Jonas, via comms: "Jonas here, Captain." Janeway, via comms: "I need you to increase transporter range. Shunt all available power to Transporter Room 2." Jonas, via comms: "Right away." He heads over to the console where Neelix is.

Janeway, via comms: "Let me know as soon as you've done it. We have an incoming shuttle, and we've identified human lifesigns. It may be Tom Paris."

Jonas, via comms, realising that Paris probably knows he is a spy: "Yes, ma'am."

Paris is having a bumpy ride in the shuttlecraft as the pursuing Kazon ship pounds it with phaser fire. He shouts into the com. system: "Paris to Voyager! Paris to Voyager! Do you read me yet? Paris to Voyager! Paris to Voyager! Come in!" Janeway, picking up the signal: "Voyager to Paris. We hear you."

Paris, via comms: "Captain, change your course immediately. The Kazon have ground troops waiting for you on Hemikek and more ships on the way." Janeway, via comms: "We'll get you out of there as soon as we can, Tom. You're still out of transporter range, but we won't change course until we've locked onto you." Paris, via comms: "I can take care of myself! Just get Voyager to safety!" Janeway: "As soon as you're on board."

The shuttlecraft is hit and systems are damaged. Paris is knocked flying and lands heavily on the floor, partly stunning him. Janeway says urgently: "Tom, what happened? Are you alright? Lieutenant Paris, report." No reply. Via comms: "Mr Jonas, we need that transporter now."

In Engineering, Jonas replies, via comms: "I'm working on it, Captain." But in fact he is not working on it. He is in fact engaged in a scheme of his own. "I'm having trouble resetting the EPS manifold." Janeway, via comms: "Stay on it."

Neelix, peering at the console Jonas is working on: "Mr Jonas, I'm no expert, but it doesn't look to me like you're working on the transporter subsystems."

Jonas: "Neelix, I know what I'm doing."

He activates a control. Neelix: "What did you do?! What is this forcefield for?!" Jonas: "It's just a precaution." Fiercely: "Please, Neelix! Stay out of this!"

In the Kazon shuttlecraft, Paris comes to, to hear Janeway calling via comms: "Tom, can you hear me? Report." Paris: "I'm here, Captain!" Janeway: "We'll be in normal transporter range in another minute." Paris, via comms: "Captain, the spy. It's Michael Jonas! He's the one that sabotaged the ship!" Janeway, via comms: "Noted. Janeway to Tuvok: get to Engineering immediately - it's Michael Jonas." Tuvok, via comms: "On our way." Paris, via comms: "The shuttle hull is starting to breach! Might not make it, Captain!"

Engineering. Neelix: "I recognise that subroutine. You're into the weapons system. You're disabling them!" Jonas: "For God's sake, Neelix, back off!"

Neelix taps his combadge. "Neelix to-" Jonas hits him and knocks him to the floor, stunning him.

He crouches down and grabs Neelix's combadge then, removing his own, he.....

..... runs across to the ladder to the upper floor and quickly climbs up.

Neelix comes to. Feeling groggy, he shakes his head to clear it. He goes to tap his combadge but realises Jonas must have removed it. It means Neelix cannot contact security or anyone! - he is on his own!

Jonas must be stopped! Neelix sees an engineering tool that could be used as a weapon, reaches for it and sets off after Jonas.

Bridge. Kim: "We're in transporter range, Captain."

Janeway, via comms: "Voyager to Paris. Tom, can you hear me? We're energising now." Paris is beamed out of the shuttlecraft. Via comms to transporter officer: "Transporter Room 2. Do you have him?" Transporter officer, via comms: "We have him, Captain. He's alright."

the transporter beams starts to take Paris

Voyager shakes as weapons fire impacts the shields. Kim: "It's the Kazon ship, Captain." Janeway, having held onto the railing to stop herself being knocked flying: "Return fire." Via comms: "Janeway to Tuvok. Are you in Engineering yet?" Tuvok, via comms: "The doors are sealed. We're working on it, Captain."

Janeway, via comms: "Bridge to Transporter Room 2. Lock onto Mr Jonas in Engineering and beam him out of there." Transporter officer, via comms: "Aye, Captain."

Transporter officer, via comms: "All I got was his combadge, Captain."
