People in the crowd on Golden Gate Bridge clap and cheer as Voyager passes overhead.
Newscaster: "These should be familiar images to everyone who remembers USS Voyage's trumphant return to Earth after 23 years in the Delta Qudrant." On the screen, Voyager flies through the Bridge. "Voyager captivated the hearts and minds of the people thorughout the Federation, so it seems fitting that on this the tenth anniversary of their return we take a moment to recall the sacrifices made by the crew."
From this we know we are seeing far into the future - a future where Voyager took 23 years to reach home. We see Kathryn Janeway, now an Admiral in Starfleet, as she moves across her dimly-lit apartment.

The news continues: "Corruption charges were brought today against-"

An evening reunion of Voyager's crew is held in Admiral Janeway's apartment.

Captain Kim: "Hello."
Little girl: "What's your name?"
Capt. Kim: "Harry. What's yours?"
Little girl: "Sabrina."
Capt. Kim: "Naomi's daughter?
Sabrina: "Uh huh."
Capt. Kim: "You've gotten so big."
Sabrina: "I don't remember you."
Capt. Kim: "I haven't been to one of these reunions in four years. I've been on a deep-space assignment."
Sabrina: "For four years?!" To a young child, four years seems like eternity.
Capt. Kim: "Compared to how long I was on Voyager it seemed like a long weekend. Can you find your mother for me? I'd love to say hi."

Sabrina leaves about her task, just as Admiral Janeway arrives and hands him a drink: "Here you are, Captain."

Capt. Kim: "Thank you, Admiral."
The two wander off for a chat.
Capt. Kim: "I haven't seen her since she was a baby."
Admiral Janeway: "It's amazing how fast you've all grown up."
Capt. Kim: "How's Tuvok?"
Admiral Janeway: "Not well."
Capt. Kim: "I thought maybe I'd go see him."
Admiral Janeway: "That would be nice."
Capt. Kim: "I'm sorry I missed the funeral. I should've been there."

Admiral Janeway: "You were on a mission. Everyone understood. It's so good to see you, Harry."

The Doctor enters the apartment with a lady on his arm.
Paris: "Doc!"
Doctor to his companion: "Mr Paris, Voyager's pilot, medic and occasional thorn in my side."
He and Paris greet each other wish an affectionate hug.
Doctor: "Where have you been hiding yourself?"
Paris: "I've been busy."
Doctor: "A new holonovel?"
Paris: "I'll be sure to get your input before I send it to my publisher. Aren't you going to introduce me to your date?"
Doctor: "Tom Paris, say hello to Lana, my blushing bride."
Paris: "You're married?!"
Lana: "Tomorrow's our two-week anniversary."
Paris: "Well, congratulations! My invitation must've gotten lost in subspace?"
Doctor: "You should be flattered. We took a leaf out of your book and eloped."
Lana: "Joe has a real flare for romantic gestures."
Paris: "Joe?"
Doctor: "I decided I couldn't get married without a name."
Paris: "It took you thirty-three years to come up with 'Joe'?"
Doctor: "It was Lana's grandfather's name."
Paris to Lana: "Oh, so you're not a-"
Lana: "A hologram? No."
Doctor: "Frankly, Mr Paris, I'm surprised you'd even ask. I thought we were beyond those sorts of distinctions."
Paris: "Are you kidding? I think it's great. I'm in a 'mixed marriage' myself, remember."
Doctor: "Speaking of which, where is that wife of yours?"

In one corner of the apartment Admiral Janeway and B'Elanna Torres are having a quiet talk.
Torres: "The High Council had a lot of questions."
Admiral Janeway: "What did you tell them?"
Torres: "The truth, with a Klingon twist. I told that them my beloved former captain, who had saved my life many times in glorious battle, would be honoured to submit Korath's House for consideration."
Admiral Janeway: "Do you think it'll work?"
Torres: "I'm just the Federation liaison, but I'd like to think I have some influence. You still haven't told my why you're trying to help Korath."
Admiral Janeway: "He's an old friend."
Torres: "Would this 'old friend' have anything to do with the mission you sent my daughter on?"
Admiral Janeway: "Sorry, B'Elanna, but you know I can't talk about that."

Torres: "Couldn't you at least have waited until after the reunion? She really wanted to be here."
Admiral Janeway: "She'll be home soon, I promise."

Reginald Barclay, who has the rank of Commander now, taps his glass and calls out: "May I have everyone's attention, please? Attention!" The guests gather in front of him. "Ten years ago tonight, this crew returned home from the longest away mission in Starfleet history. Twenty-three years together made you a family, one I'm proud to have been adopted by. So let's raise our glasses - to the journey!"

As the guests make the toast, "To the journey!" Admiral Janeway has a toast of her own: "And to those of us who aren't here to celebrate it with us." click for audio clip from the episode
